    Wagner Electric motor type RA

R = Repulsion? I also have the exact pic of the Wagner RA one on ebay in my Rosenberg motor 'Bible' , and it is in a chapter on Repulsion motors. M.

    Wagner Electric motor type RA

There is a RA motor on ebay right now, 253804527141, no sign of a capacitor, back then repulsion-induction type were popular and Wagner used to make this type and looked exactly like the one on ebay. It is possible it is one in this case. They have a wound rotor for starting, and the brush gear...

    Problem with Synchronous Motor

So it is not even turning at 5rpm? It looks like a simple timer motor with just 2 connections, Sure you have the right voltage? They usually have a small internal 'kicker' to start it off in one particular direction. M.

    Problem with Synchronous Motor

Is that is only 5rpm, were you expecting it to rotate a high speed perhaps? M.

    PCB Order Mirrored?

Legacy thread: But the ones I got back from Seeed were fine with the Gerber produced by Kicad. M.

    Circular?

I believe you can get the older build version still, I use this because one of my work PC's is Win XP prof. also the latter ver will not run on XP. Actually I prefer to use the older version to the latest on my Win10 PC. M.

Where can I find Ferric Chloride Hexahydrate in the USA?

Agree, Unless you just want to do it for purely academic reasons, I could never produce the type of board you can get from such as Seeed, PCBway etc etc, offering qty 10 100mm x 100mm boards for $5.00 with plated through holes etc. I use the free Kicad PCB software schematic capture, board...

    PWM - Potentiometer ohm importance...

The one I picked up is very similar and mine has a 100k linear pot. Place the pot slider in the centre and measure to each end, that would tell you. Also are you using a power supply at the voltage rating of the motor? With a PWM drive you normally would be at least 10% higher voltage than the...

    PWM - Potentiometer ohm importance...

Like any component in an electronic circuit, the value is dependent on the function it does in that particular design. In this case a typical value could be 100k linear pot. What is the reason for the question? M.

    Motor peculiarity

It might be interesting to see if it still generates the correct voltage, IOW it should show the rated terminal voltage when rotated at the rated RPM, or a pro-rated value at anything less in rpm. M.

Why connecting a brush motor to voltage divider doesn't work?

Measure the current with a low voltage using a locked rotor, test a couple of locations and calculate initial start current. As the rpm increases the current decreases, relative to load. M.

    Motor peculiarity

The only reliable way of testing the armature resistance is to use a low voltage supply with a locked rotor and use a ammeter to obtain resistance. You may have to have the armature tested with a growler for exact condition. M.

Why connecting a brush motor to voltage divider doesn't work?

The 10K resistor is Way too high for a series resistor, even on a small motor. You would be better off using a simple PWM circuit. M.

Understanding N channel and P Channel FETs

Having come up through the valve era, I embraced the Mosfet because it resembled the old Valve (tube) technology I was used to, I rarely use any bi-polar devices now unless I have to. It might even be an asset to go back and review the old Triode valve if not familiar. And other trans conductive...

As in post #2 it was also used for non-polarized caps to indicate the terminal (outer foil) that should be grounded in R.F. decoupling, valve circuits etc. M.

Does anyone have history with measuring linear distances?

So how long is this piece of string! Are we talking shrinkage? Or is it being reeled in? Still NEI! M.

Does anyone have history with measuring linear distances?

You need to state your application, the question is too broad. e.g. for machine tool use there is linear scales. M.
