    Why are actuators inductive?

I assume the OP would like to zero in on actuators that are inductive. In spite of India being the largest English speaking country outside of USA, there may be a language problem,! M.;)

    Sump pump monitor

Well you would need some kind of recording unit, either just No. of times and/or the duration and time, depends how far you want to go. For one, I would be inclined to set up another L.V. float switch which will be less invasive of connecting into the present pump. If you have any experience...

Is there a name for this type of motor ?

Post #2 should have read Repulsion-Induction motor, not Reluctance. :( M.

Is there a name for this type of motor ?

The kitchen aid is the reference I made to the electro mechanical type, but the OP mentions changing angle of brushes? M.

Is there a name for this type of motor ?

Most likely a Universal motor, it will run on AC or DC, some had a electromechanical switch mechanism that would open and close to regulate the rpm. Another similar AC motor is a variable reluctance motor, which it is possible for it to be. Modern ones have a Triac type controller. I think you...

4 kW DC excited synchronous motor

If you run the field unregulated you can easily achieve in excess of 50vDC, I have done a few bench exercises with them. As is normal in many generators, I tried to use self excitation but did not work. M.

4 kW DC excited synchronous motor

Never seen a 1ph auto alternator?? All the ones I have owned in the UK and N.A. are all 3 phase, this for some decades now.. The OP is looking for a high voltage version evidently.. M.

4 kW DC excited synchronous motor

You don;t say whether voltage is important? If this is just for demonstration/exercise purposes you could look at a automotive alternator, bit low on the desired, current but another source is shipboard alternators. M.

    555 pwm controller.

So what was the original part No.? M.

    555 pwm controller.

Because the 555 circuit will be fairly low current and stay steady enough, You can use a simple series resistor a cap and and 15v zener to drop the 555 voltage. M.

    555 pwm controller.

The one i linked to IS a 555 PWM controller, one most common way of implementing it, as does the cheap ebay versions. Txfr shorthand for Transformer. Incidentally What was the original IC,? M.

    555 pwm controller.

Using a 1amp supply for a device that may draw 1a or more is using an undersized supply IMO. This is not a large supply, I would have used at least a 5a supply for margin. If you already have some of the suggested PWM controllers then it will have a power Mosfet in it. Also they normally come...
