    Diode bridge

That is the PWM version, you need a DC supply and a PWM circuit to control RPM. With the SCR bridge circuit, two of which are rectifiers, two are SCR's, no other power supply needed. OR, a full bridge off of AC power, no cap needed. but no rpm control. M.

    Diode bridge

Generally the majority of T.M. controllers are either SCR bridge, which is just a way of controlling the mean level output of a diode bridge set up, the other is PWM control which is a bit superior to the SCR bridge method. If you only want it to run flat out, then a straight bridge set up off...

    120 AC to 120 DC

The OP mentions a 3.8hp motor. A DC motor has maximum torque at zero rpm. the torque curve is generally fairly flat up to the maximum rated rpm. https://www.johnsonfit.com/blog/treadmill_drive_motors_and_the_question_of_horsepower Many confuse HP with Torque. M.

Can anyone help help me with a Gear Ratio?

That would be like describing apples and oranges, they have no relationship to each other. The only difference as stated is the SF/M or circumferential rate. Which is easy to calculate based on rpm. M.

Can anyone help help me with a Gear Ratio?

You would need to describe the driving method for each and how each rod relates to the other? I must be missing something?o_O M.

Can anyone help help me with a Gear Ratio?

You are talking surface feet/min not rpm or gear ratio. This is just a direct ratio of the circumference of each end x rpm. They both have the same rpm, It would be identical to a solid shaft that has a small dia pulley on one end and a larger one the other end, no gearing or change of ratio...

Can anyone help help me with a Gear Ratio?

What are you looking for exactly? Obviously with a solid rod there is no 'gear ratio'! The rpm is identical for both ends. The ratio comes when you interact with another rotating object. M.

    Alternative Actuator Choices?

This is why I mentioned air over oil, this is a way to get the advantages of Hydraulics without the expensive hydraulic pumps etc, the pressure originates with air. For a small dia cyclinder. M.

    AC generator

A BLDC motor can be ran as a 3ph AC generator/alternator , for a large one you can use a 3ph Fisher-Paykel washing machine motor it is a large 'outrunner' construction, there is also a ECM motor used now in furnaces and HVAC equipment for the blower fan. More and more devices are using BLDC in...

    Alternative Actuator Choices?

40N-m is around 350lb-in which is fairly considerable. Have you ruled out a motorized linear actuator and also air over oil for simpler hydraulic useage?. M.

    Help With Switch

Using a centre off switch, intercept the feed or conductor to the thermostat and wire the incoming feed to the centre terminal, use one outer terminal for the intercepted thermostat conductor , use the other outer sw terminal to by pass the thermostat and go direct to the solenoid controller. Ground and neutral wires

Any star connected transformer can be set up to reference the neutral to ground. However the ground installation electrode, whether ground rod or a metallic water supply system the installation should be qualified by measurement afterwards. .This is when the presence of a previous referenced...

    120 AC to 120 DC

You cannot use a bridge rectifier, two singles and two SCR's form the bridge, something in the order of these would be more like it. VS-40TPS08APBF-ND & VS-40EPS12PBF-ND M.

    Ground and neutral wires

Is your 3ph transformer just for your immediate residence or what does it supply? If you installed a local neutral, you would have to feed the outlets and all equipment with a ground conductor accordingly M.

    120 AC to 120 DC

No you cannot run them in parllel, there will always be a mismatch. You would be better off looking at higher current off board devices to replace the existing. M.
