    A brushless motor with PM field should generate. AC and BLDC motors have three winding's/conductors so should generate 3phase. Many have a three phase or commutation controller built in, as per PC fans or HVAC ECM motors, in this case you will not see a generated output.. Here is an example...

    The ratio reduction could be done with two back-to-back double pulley systems, both 10:1 but would take a lot of room. The advantage is the torque would be increased by a factor of 20!. M.

In the original the P.B.'s are Maintained when pushed, the direction will enabled and depend on the status of the DPDT (latched) L.S.'s Either or both P.B. can be pushed but the enabled direction will depend on the DPDT L.S.     It doesn't need to latch if a SPDT centre off switch is used. The problem with the original print is it does not have the option of start-stop-change direction, the circuit has to wait until the L.S. trips over to enable the other direction, the SPDT SW and two separate L.S.'s solves this. M.

    If you use a transformer use a dimmer or triac control before the bridge that feeds the LED's. You can also use a dimmer on the primary if needed, this is the way many control their Nichrome wire cutter. M.
