Need help on servo motor output gear sizing

The very simple down and dirty way to measure the output torque is to place a horn of a certain length and measure the distance from the hole you intend using to the centre of the horn. Then use a sensitive spring scale attached to the hole in question and holding the spring scale perpendicular...

    cordless power tool converted

Agree you will get a drop across each rectifier, a 24-30vac transformer unregulated supply should do the trick. A 24vdc motor is not a particularly precise device. M.

    cordless power tool converted

Personally I would not use a SMPS because of the possible shut down on overload or at start up at full rpm. All that is needed is a mains transformer and a bridge rectifier. M.

If sensing a conductor carrying AC you could also look at the Honeywell sensors. http://sensing.honeywell.com/products/current_sensors For small P.M. field detection they have the miniature SS400 series. M.

what mosfet to use for an induction heater

The alternative is to get creative and come up with a water cooled heatsink, also the caps have to be very low ESR the WIMA MKP4 are a good source, they also carry the tank current so cooling these is a good idea if higher cycle times are needed. M.

I need a looping digital timer

Seems you don't want a timer or a clock, it is called a rate counter. Red Lion is one maker of these, you may find cheaper on ebay. M.

Speed control for A.C. Model Railroad locomotives

Depending on the nature of the end use of the AC in the locomotive, 5 separate Triac controllers may do the trick. Very simple to build. Similar to the light dimmer control, but lower voltage. M.

How do get Arduino to read the angular speed of a rotating shaft?

You can also use a opto slot sensor as a rpm/tachometer, as well as the retro reflective type that uses white paint or 3m reflector tape on the shaft as mentioned. Depending on the range of rpm, and whether a Arduino can use a 32Khz watch crystal, it can be used to create a 1 sec clock for ease...

    4v motor damaged?

Then I would try the 'Generating' test and the braking (shorted leads) test. You should detect a difference between open and shorted. If they are positive, then applying a DC, 3v-6v should produce rotation results. M.

    4v motor damaged?

Appears to be a very simple DC P.M. brushed motor, the 'brushes' appear to be 2 spring type clips to contact the coarse com segments, any of the previous test I mentioned should show results, what continuity do you get across the two leads? I don't think the black disc has any bearing on it. M.,

    MC6802 IRQ Pulse

The method have used is essentially a missing pulse detector and the trigger input receives the pulses and keeps resetting the 555, if no pulse then it times out and the output changes. M.

    MC6802 IRQ Pulse

Generally on a watchdog timer a pulse constantly resets the timer, if the device or system is healthy the timer does not time out and indicate an alarm. If the source of the pulse fails, then the timer times out and flags an alarm or other function. M..

Can anyone help identify this diode housing?!

My guess also it is a OEM produced part, possibly to enhance the heat dissipation of a leaded diode, as the wire connected to a power rectifier diode is generally large guage to act as its heat sink. M.
