    Audio Amplifier Project

Well spotted duke37, nice short circuit indeed ! A better schematic is available here: http://www.quasarelectronics.com/kit-files/electronic-kit/3105.pdf

Controlling dc motor and motion sensor.

I suggest a design based on two of the shelf product: An IR barrier as used in automation a RC servo as used in model hobby (linear models available' s). Only fit if your application is not to "heavy" between those items a small electronic interface. basically a servo tester alike...

    Audio Amplifier Project

C2 filter out RF frequencies C9 and R1 is a Boucherot cell placed to compensate the loudspeaker inductance C7 and C8 provide bootstrap feedback C3 and C4 provide an AC ground for the inverting s amplifiers inputs C6 seems to be part of the IC protection C5 ?

    power indicator

maybe it's for temporary installation. When you works for events the scene can be like a hive and you don't know always who is doing what. Sometimes the breakers are far away or in another building, so having a main presence indicator can be useful.

here under a voltage detector in kit form. http://www.velleman.eu/downloads/0/illustrated/illustrated_assembly_manual_k7101_rev1.pdf very few components, a good beginner project so!

    Unknown IC

I deeply drill the WWW but no information about your mystery chip Indeed it's should be some military/hi-rel device according to the package and the marking :o

Is there any brand name or logo on it?

    Extending a 0.4mm pitch connector?

The keyword here is FFC (Flexible Flat Cable). Normally it's "standardized". To relocate the camera you need 1 flat cable and 2 pcb connectors soldered back to back (tricky job). It's somewhat fragile but it's should work. I already do it successfully to relocate 20cm away a graphical LCD.

    Time Machine Help

Waouwww. congratulations! you made an awesome job! For the light control is not so complicated for someone with electronic skills. However you probably want something ready to go than start from scratch. My suggestion is to buy a simple light control based on a small DMX unit you can program...

    Verify My PCB?

As it the pin is floating, the cap act just as a filter. You must connect the standby pin to gnd via a resisitor (see the STA540 datasheet). The metal part on the componant is not a heatsink but a metal tab provided to attach a heatsink. Heatsink size will depend on many thinks (max power...

    Verify My PCB?

Looks OK to me. Do you have connected the stand by pin? The IC pin's are staggered do you align them for mounting purpose ? Do you mount a correct heatsink?

Sony STR DE505 Receiver, left channel out

Your suggestions to clean the receiver are OK with a preference for canned air method. You can also use a soft paintbrush. Don't see any risk when done carefully. As you have 4 identical channels you can detect a fault by measuring any (significant) difference between the dead one and a working...

    Building a logarithmic amplifier

Your first post circuit should work, but it's a basic circuit it can probably be handy for simple usages but not, typically, for measurment, as the dynamic range is low.

    MOSFET Gate driver IC

Yes, by bypass the driver I mean connecting the fet Gate directly to the microcontroller. (that why the are called logic level FET) Just add a resistor from the gate to the ground to ensure it's stay off at power up. Normally you don't need to worry about switching time to drive a heater...

OOPS-- did I fry my battery charger?

If the unconnected charger give you 0.02V yes he is dead! If you can open the enclosure maybe you can narrow down the problem.
