    Comedy Thread

I'm thinking that the cephalopod overlords, became a part of the big bang theory? And may no longer exist, except maybe in the Darwin Awards.

Wanted: Beckman 5k Model A Helipot.

Remember where you posted this request so you can check back later. I've got several of the old Beckman Model A, but I'm not at the house right now. I'll check if I have one in 5K and get back to you here (but it might not be until the weekend).

Yaesu FRG-7 vintage budget comms. receiver

Even if it works coming out of the fridge, somebody will have to open it up and look for the problem. If you have basic troubleshooting skills, open it up and look for any physical (burned parts) obvious problems. If it works coming out of the fridge, get a can of 'freeze spray' from a local...

Hewlett Packard Envy 5661 eAll-in-One Printer Dissassembly

The printer is so compact, fastening hardware is difficult to reach. I Intend (when I find a tool that'll do it), to go in from the top. Unfortunately, the top-mounted scanner lid will not lift all the way up 90 degrees, for me to access the torx-head screws in the back (top) If I could just...

Hewlett Packard Envy 5661 eAll-in-One Printer Dissassembly

HP won't help with this cheap printer. Friend wrapped a sticky label around the paper-feed path that is not accessible. Was hoping for an exploded diagram, or somebody who's taken one of these apart before, to tell me how to access the insides so I can peel that sticker off the underside of the...

    Hickok 799 Meter issues

A meter that doesn't display isn't much good, is it? And who knows what else might be wrong with it. It's up to you, if you can find a meter and have the skills to troubleshoot it if something else is wrong with it.

    Connector mismatch

I'm not really knowledgeable about these interfaces, but if this was me, I'd start with knowing the devices I was trying to connect. (Car wiring harnesses to radios differ with car make and model) As someone on the outside looking in: What is the make and model of your car? What iPhone model do...

    Wire connection type?

Betcha edennis has linked to your reference after secondary prodding, and has what he needs now. So even if he doesn't respond, you did him good.

    Rotary DC Solenoid

This may not help, but I've bought several Ledex rotary solenoids over the years from All Electronics Corp in Van Nyes, CA. They're a liquidator for company overruns, so may not have what you want in stock, but that's the first place I'd look. Only other option I can think of for you is to...

    Wire connection type?

Did you try researching the Ametek spec sheet for the blower, maybe it specifies it. Or check the Ametek website for specific information? Yes, it's a Molex-type jack, but there are a lot of them. The number of contacts, the pin spacing and pin diameter are part of the description. Since...

B&k 507 reduced volume right speaker with no surround volume at all

I don't know if your unit has internal speaker fuses, but when you've got the unit repaired, I'd definitely consider installing them if they're not there. (Either that, or invest in some higher wattage speakers)

    Zero ohm resistors.

The ones I buy for HP gear ain't cheap. Kinda wondering if the Chinese might be capitalizing on the demand with a genuine 'zero ohm resistor' made of pot metal.

    Zero ohm resistors.

I haven't ever actually looked for HP Engineering 'Bench Briefs' (the ones they used to turn-out during at least the 1970's) that might have mentioned zero ohm resistor use. I just mentioned my experience over the past 48 years of working HP T&M Instruments. I just checked the spec sheets from...

    Zero ohm resistors.

Didn't 'imply', mentioned what I've seen. And I'm back to say I've seen a lot of zero ohm resistors opened, that saved me a helluvalot of extra repair on adjacent boards. Perhaps, that is an unintended consequence of zero ohm resistor use(?)

    Zero ohm resistors.

i remember this argument some years ago here. I repair a lot of Hewlett Packard (vintage now) test and measurement equipment. HP LOVED to use these components. The argument went that they're just used as jumpers, probably due to ease of automatic insertion in PCBs. My input (for which I was...

Rehashing Info About Surface Mount Resistor Size

I mentioned this in a hijacking of somebody's surface mount post a few months ago, and saw several replies, so thought it might be of interest here. I mentioned that years ago I had been buying specific surface mount resistors, and suddenly started receiving smaller-sized surface mount packages...
