Air compressor runs for a few senconds

This 1.8 HP is most likely a "peak HP" rating thats commonly used for marketing to make product sound better. The actual HP rating is probably 1/2HP or less.

What task does this item perform for society?

The electric fence tester crossed my mind too, although Insulation might be useful there. lol I also though it was some sort of probes like for find a buried pipe or wire. The led was a big clue along with Google. It's essentially a ir extender on a stick. I have used ir blasters to extend...

    Faulty mini hifi system

Aww, where's the fun in that? If you have some basic tools, a volt meter, and a lot of patience, we might be able to walk you through the repair yourself.

    Heater thermsotat receiver unit

I'd check the diodes and then transistors for shorts. Perhaps that tall electrolytic spewed it guts from its underside?

Look like it might be a variable Rf inductor, although I can't imagine why it would melt.

convert Battery powered alarm to mains with battery backup?

Approximately 2 inches/5cm or smaller if need be. Maybe something like this (on ebay) relay and socket, although you only need one set of contacts. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Relay-MY4N-J-MY4N-MY4-220V-240V-220VAC-COIL-with-socket-base-PYF14A/272741817518?hash=item3f80addcae:g:Nx4AAOSwNRdX-H~C

    Heater thermsotat receiver unit

I don't see the relay or a yellow cap. ? That gooey stuff just looks like glue used to hold the wire down to the board. It probably accidentally got in the switch. Not a problem. But the area around Q1, Q2 is badly corroded and a may have been the original problem. Possibly the nearby cap...

    Faulty mini hifi system

It does sound like leaking caps, particularly if they are bulging. But, It's also possible that its wax, rosin residue or glue used during assembly. Post some photos and we can offer our opinion, although the only true test that it's good is to remove it and test it with a meter. Can't say...

convert Battery powered alarm to mains with battery backup?

A simple solution would be to use a relay. Hook up your mains 240v to the relay coil and the supply side of your dc adapter. Then wire its 6v dc output through the relays open contact and the wire from the battery through its normally closed contact. When mains power is lost the relay will...

Help me please to get a good night's sleep!

Surgery works but it's not a permanent solution. They make Cpap masks that don't even touch your face. Again, its worth asking a sleep specialist to see if there are alternatives. Best regards, John

Air compressor runs for a few senconds

If its really cold it could be the problem. (oil getting thick in cold temp) You could try a heater near the crankcase to warm the oil before hand to see if that's your problem. Or, try pulling the ring on the unloader valve when starting it until the oil warms up after a few minutes.

Air compressor runs for a few senconds

Welcome. Can you also turn the compressor side by hand, or perhaps with a pair of pliers? I think it's more likely to be a mechanical problem than an electrical problem. Perhaps a bearing or the piston is siezing up once it warms up?

    Sensor to count punches

An accelorometer fed into a microcontroller would probably be the best approach. Try to find an arduino blog on the subject. You may get away with a simpler approach of using a tilt sensor or a shock sensor similar to the ones used in home security. This sensor could then feed an externally...

Help me please to get a good night's sleep!

If you are alerted about your position it disturbs your sleep just as much as an apnea event. If Cpap therapy doesn't work there are other options. I would check with a sleep doctor to get his opinion either way. Some have had great success with wearing a cervical collar which holds your...

    Swing Gate Opener Help

Possibly nothing. When a battery starts to go bad they often won't take a charge (bad cell) and will release excessive hydrogen gas. This gas causes corrosion at the battery terminals and can cause the case to bulge. If your new batteries have about 25- 28v hooked up, their probably fine...

oscilloscope LEADER 4081= KENWOOD CS-5135 DOES NOT CHECK THE BRIGHTNESS OF THE TRACE

Are you saying you accidentally shorted a trace or component somewhere? The voltages sound about right although g1 voltage should decrease with a higher intensity setting. Does the trace now appear within seconds of power up, as opposed to the 10 minute warm up problem?
