    Why did you have to drain it anyway? Is the relay getting control signal from the ECU module? A scan tool would be helpful to manually turn on/off to see if it's cycling and/or diagnose if there's a fault code inhibiting it from comming on.

    Thinking of it as "watts input" is a point of confusion. "175w is a rating of what the circuit was designed to handle under normal conditions. It does not mean 175w is going "into" the amp. The power cord and transformer can handle much more power for a fraction of a second.

    I think it's great option. Even partly cloudy you'd get more power than the water wheel generator. Only problem is it's cumbersome and can't be used on the boat. But you could have two batteries; One charging back at the cabin, and another while fishing.
