    Testing Procedure For this Component

Since I don't have a schematic, and this thing runs a dvd/cd player in addition to an am/fm stereo, I thought maybe this component is what sends the current to the dvd/cd drive when the radio/dvd switch is put on dvd. Something has to do that. :-) I never measured the voltage while in...

    Testing Procedure For this Component

Hi all. I have removed for testing a TS2576, a step down voltage switching regulator. It was on a 12vdc to 12/8/6vdc power supply board. The power supply is to an RV Stereo/CD/DVD system for which I cannot find a schematic diagram (Quest QX3202DVD). The pins, from left to right, are supposed...

    DVR power supply testing

Ed...I think you better start working on those soldering skills if you want to get this thing working again. :-) Any chance you had a lightening strike near the time of failure? Does that power supply have a fuse anywhere? Is it blown? (Don't just put another fuse in there and hope that...

    DVR power supply testing

The second picture. The smaller cap that is by itself. It still appears to have a slight bulge on top. You should just replace that one and see if your voltage returns to the rated voltage on that side. You said the 52V side was correct and the 12 volt side was at 10.8. Oh...looking back...

    DVR power supply testing

Just so we are clear, I wasn't talking about the capacitor on the top right of your photo. The one I am talking about is in middle on the left, under the black wire that goes to the fan. There are three larger ones on the bottom- two black and one that looks green; a smaller than the rest...

    DVR power supply testing

Ed...Common visual indications of bad capacitors are leaking and bulging. If the top of the one I identified is actually bulging, and not flat like most of the other ones we can see, that is likely where you should start. You will have to remove (un-solder) it from the board to check it. If...

    A Diode Question

Thanks for each of your replies. I've tried to locate a schematic for this thing and have had zero luck finding one. Anyway, the power supply is supplying the correct voltage (12/8/5) at each of the supply points after some minor component replacement. So, based on the fact that the diodes...

    DVR power supply testing

In looking at your pictures, along the left side there is a transformer (MP-130I -written upside down). Just above that transformer is a small capacitor that appears to have a slight bulge on top. There is a component with copper and red wire windings directly above that cap and what appears...

Power Supply Cap Basic Replacement Advice

As someone who has been going through a lot of cap replacing lately, I can tell you the same. Remove the caps from the board prior to testing them. If you are going to replace, stay with the same uF rating. Voltage should be the same or higher, but never lower. Higher temp ratings usually...

    A Diode Question

Hello all. I have a question concerning a diode on a 12vdc to 12/8/5vdc power supply for an RV Stereo/CD/DVD Player (Quest QX3202DVD). One of the diodes (red arrow) on the PCB has a 12 volt dc charge on both sides of the diode (anode and cathode) when tested from one of the legs to ground...

    DVD Optical Pick-Up POT ID

Hi all. I have tried to find a datasheet on this DVD Optical Pick-Up, a Sanyo SF-HD62, and cannot locate one. I can find some adjustment information from a few videos, however, none of them are providing the info I need. I am trying to identify which of the POTs is for the CD and which one...

    Which Electronic Component is this?

You bet, kellys_eye. I've seen many forum posts that just stop without resolution or solution and I always wonder what happened, I didn't want to be 'that guy'.

    Which Electronic Component is this?

Ok folks. I was able to source the component (RD01MUS2, an RF Transistor) on Ebay. Ten of them for $10, shipped from China. So I had to wait for them to get here. Anyway, they arrived. Today I was able to start working on the project, which involved removing the fried component and a...

    Which Electronic Component is this?

Again, thanks. I did , however, determine that RD01MUS2 is the correct replacement, based on the K5 marking on the original component. Apparently, the RD01MUS1 has a K2 marking. I found the parts and have ordered them. Once I get them and have finished the replacement, I will report back. HD.

    Which Electronic Component is this?

Hi reset. Thank you for replying. Is the part you supplied the information on the specific part I need to get? Or are there other like components and I will need to find the correct replacement for my application? Thanks in advance for your reply. HD.

    Which Electronic Component is this?

Thanks for the reply davenn. Actually, I did go over the schematic, many times. I tried to figure out what Q4 was before finally breaking down and coming to the forum. I am certainly not versed in electronic component identification, but I seem to get lucky sometimes in tearing these things...

    Which Electronic Component is this?

Hi all. I am trying to identify an electronic component on a PCB contained in a remote control transmitter used for a remote controlled helicopter. I have attached a picture of the front and back of the board. The component I am trying to identify is circled in red on one pic. The picture of...
