    Adding a magnet to a balanced gyroscope wheel or axle would not be a good idea. That's why I asked about to see what type of "gyro" (s)he was using. Reflective ot transmissive optical would be less destabilizing. Ken

    If you use a floating magmet and reed switch, make sure that the magnet cannot go above the upper reed or below the lower one. If they do you will get an invalid condition. Ken
