Making Custom-Length Xmas Lights from Existing Strand

Typical AC light strand? LEDs are DC current driven devices. They are polarised. Possibly I misunderstand you? Either way, they probably have a power supply adapter? Rather than a simple mains plug?. You may call it a wall wart?. 24V wall wart seems to fit regulations of low voltage LED...

Making Custom-Length Xmas Lights from Existing Strand

Hi, it may be easier if you give the power supply/adapter specs too. Also, do the 4 wires come from the supply? Or three from supply and forth ending somewhere near the first LED?. Martin

    DIY load for generator testing.

Hi guys ‘n’ gals, I’ve been reading up on generator load banks. But they seem to be quite complicated and very expensive. I did read one that said “the load bank is a heating element with fan cooling”. That sounds to me like a simple ‘fan heater’. All our generators are only 5-8KVA and I was...

    Wanted: USB controlled feedback vibrator

If a s@x toy is no good, what about an engraver?. Small engravers can be found for 5V. It is still a motor with a counter weight!. Martin

Sounds like you need to pay more attention in class!. Explain what parts you understand and the sections you don’t.

    Wanted: USB controlled feedback vibrator

Yes, use a s*x device and modify it ‘if ya want’. They come in remote control too:). However, a simple motor and a counter weight does the ‘vibrating’. So simple to make. What’s the purpose? Or the wife wants a dedicated foot tickler?.:) Martin

    Impact activated LEDs

I have to agree. The mold making for a cylinder of a particular size is quite difficult. I’m sure there were many hours of sanding and polishing to get the rims and hardware to fit. Great inspiration using the old broken sticks!. I’m also sure that the wall thickness has dramatically changed...

IC 8 pin (unable to identify)

What makes you think that VU1 is faulty?. Have you checked the fan itself?. Better to describe the problem rather than leave us with tid bits. Martin

Charger fuse on the output side burned

The voltage rating is just the maximum. You can always go above the rating but never below, for obvious reasons. Martin

Electro Voice SXA Powered PA Cabinet - Baffling Loud Hiss/Static

I would be first checking with a magnifying glass for a bad solder joint/loose connection. I would probably just re-touch all solder joints on that board as it’s small. Martin
