    Modding a lamp

That really depends on the current limiting resistor you’ve used?. If you show a quick drawing of your connections, I will try and help you. Please include the power supply/battery voltage and resistor value. Martin

    Modding a lamp

LEDs are polarised, meaning they only conduct when wired correctly. People confuse LEDs with having a positive and negative leg, when they actually have an anode and cathode. As you can’t get to them on your project, a small CR2032 battery can be used to verify if the LED works and also check...

How to test if I am grounded properly to work with electronics?

Is your sink metal?. Anyway, a metal sink and copper pipes are grounded (earth ground) called ‘bonded’. not battery negative. Do yourself a favour and us, read about earth ground, chassis ground and neutral.

    Audio mixer burning smell fix

The ‘good’ components next to it are Schottky diodes. The foot print is similar, so could also be a schottky too. Martin

whats the difference between 1 terminal power and 2 terminal power in falstad?

You don’t need two batteries. One battery has a voltage between the two terminals. It is positive and negative. Negative being the 0V.

whats the difference between 1 terminal power and 2 terminal power in falstad?

“It seems to behave differently”. Yep, 1 terminal connection doesn’t work and TWO connections does work!. Forget the simulator and try it!. Martin

whats the difference between 1 terminal power and 2 terminal power in falstad?

+5V and -5V will have a Peak to peak of 10V. +5V and 0V will give you 5V. The GND symbol (use your imagination) is the GND or Negative connection to the battery or power supply. It keeps the schematic tidy. It’s an invisible connection!. BUT (use your imagination) IS connected. Martin

    House vs apartment

Totally agree with above statement. An apartment is not ‘freehold’, normally only ‘leasehold’. ‘Common hold’ is similar to lease but without a time limit. So, you own the property but not the land it’s on. Where as freehold, you own the land too. Maintenance depends on age and quality of the...

    House vs apartment

You joined an electronics forum to ask about housing?. If you can afford a mortgage, buy a property (house or apartment). If you can’t afford a mortgage, rent a house or apartment and pay the ‘owners’ mortgage!. Martin

    Kenwood x45 no power

If you check the resistor with your multimeter, it should read within 5% or so of that. The heat generated is quite normal and boards do discolour over time. Problem is when manufacturers use a 1Watt resistor where really it should be a 2 Watt for cost cutting. The board needs re-soldering...

    Kenwood x45 no power

That is a 27 Ohm 5% resistor. If it’s loose, you obviously need to solder it again. And while your iron is hot, check the other solder joints too. Martin
