    Check the voltages at Q1, specifically the collector and emitter. Then the emitter of Q2 Emitter Q1 should be around 19V and collector 12V. Emitter Q2 should be 15V. Most importantly, the emitter of Q4 should be around 5V - if it is higher (say more than 6V) then the main processor is fried.

    Did you actually re-solder the resistor mentioned in earlier posts? Pop over to hifiengine ( https://www.hifiengine.com/manual_library/kenwood/x-45.shtml ) and download the manual (it's free but you have to register). Load it to this site and we'll take it from there.

    Total length (14ft) is very little more than the whole strip at 2m. What does the package say about battery life? Whatever it says the batteries will last around 5% LESS - probably not noticeable by the user. Will depend on the TYPE of battery used. CR2032 about 2 minutes /s...... AA's a lot...

    No, IPA is no threat to components and should evaporate quite quickly after application anyway. I use a cotton bud stick to apply/wipe the stuff on.

    If you use solder and/or flux when replacing the LEDs (you should) then it will have a flux core (presumably, some use liquid flux too) otherwise the stuff you're seeing is possibly 'glue' that they use to stick the LEDs to the board before they solder-reflow (or IR heat) the board to fix/solder...

    Residue? Do you mean solder FLUX perhaps? This is usually easily removed using IPA (isopropylalcohol). It's corrosive by nature so should be removed.

    The power supply for that unit seems to be 'off board' (probably via the thicker grey ribbon cable at the top left of one of your pics) and that's the first place to check for faults. Post a pic of the PSU section and include any voltage measurements you can make.
