    You are correct that the output voltage will rise for a rise in common potential. The feedback resistors are chosen to give say 5 volts out with a common of 0 volts. If this rises by 1 volt then the output will rise 1 volt. This has nothing to do with the inductor, it's the feedback network. If...

    See the little tab in the middle of the crimp. Prise it away carefully and pull the terminal off. There is a little pip on the tab that locks into a hole on the PCB connector. They can be very tight to get off sometimes Thanks Adam

    Yes I thought it seemed a bit high myself. I have never seen a capacitor with the value marked in Nano Farads and that bulge on the back side is indicative of MOVs, NTCs and PTC. That's the reason I discounted it from being a capacitor. Adam

    Wow that's a lot of capacitance on the output of the regulator. Make sure the regulator is not current limiting when charging up those output caps :) Adam

    Further investigation reveals that Mylar is a trade name and is in fact PET a form of polyester, but there are more than one type of polyester :) Adam
