    Capacitor question

    It looks like a Mylar film cap to me, might be wrong. If it is then they are classed as general purpose caps normally for DC and can be made to withstand very high voltages. They can have large losses in AC circuits at high temperatures. Thanks Adam

    I do this all the time. Have you tried to add some solder to the wick as your doing it? You cant do it dry all the time. Adam

    You use two probes and use the math function of the scope to measure the difference between the two points. Hope this helps Adam

    Hello The green one looks like an MLV transient suppressor or a fuse. The second one looks like a resistor array (network) which is more than one resistor in a package. Thanks Adam

    The MOV is sometimes used on a solenoid to speed up the turning off in comparison to a diode. It does also depend on how large the coil is whether it's beneficial. Thanks Adam
