    invention/adapter

you can do the work if you own the house and not rent it. but when you try to sell you need an electriciian to certify it is safe.

    Diode when wet

I could answer this but it will take along time. simply put pure water will not conduct at all but even rain is not PURE water. the thing that makes water a good conductor is the impurities. as the impurities are different from drop to drop I could not tell you how much current will be...

Political argument (Yeah, this is going to end well)

I have never been to war. it is a luxury I have from those that fought before me. I have heard stories of what vets from the vietnam war had to endure upon returning to a country they were fighting for (indirectly of course, they were helping an ally in the hopes they would help them in return...

    invention/adapter

I agree that the cost of replacing the whole board in this case does seem cheaper then the new invention. having said that due to legal requirements here in oz to replace a switch/powerpoint/light fitting (not the bulb) we need qualified electricians to carry out the work. so if for example...

Basic dark activated circuit with LDR help.

you also state its a 9volt supply. is that a power supply (like a walltransformer) or a 9 volt battery? either way have you checked it is still outputting 9 volts? as coca cola has stated the more info the better, if you send a pic of your setup that might help too. giving us details on all...

    Diode when wet

getting electronics wet is never a good idea. it can cause a short. its best to insulate the exposed wires/ components with a case, heat shrink(for wires) or in an absolute rare occasion tape. if a single diode gets wet then the electricity can flow backwards using the water as a conductor...

    idea help

you can get help with an idea, especially if its an electronics one. plumbing we're not that good at, but electronics we're awesome... well they are, I'm a noob

    Peltier Can Cooler

like portable air con's though you have to get the heat outside. its annoying but there are uses for them

how can get digital signal from the mobile into a picmicro?

depending on your phone you can simply use the usb connection. in the arduino world there is a board for this already. http://www.freetronics.com/products/usbdroid I am sure you will be able to find the pic alternative, then its a matter of coding

    Peltier Can Cooler

also something else you have to factor in on is the hours in the sun vs battery vs power use. if you have lunch at say 12 noon, then turn of the peltier device and let your battery charge you could get possibly another 6 hours (depending on time of year and place on earth etc) to charge your...

    Peltier Can Cooler

it would help things cool for longer though right? it just won't be as good as the higher amp ones. lets say if I plotted it on a graph hours x temp y the benefit of using any peltier device would result in it taking longer to reach room temperature

    on/off light switch/controller

lol it was for my knowledge base, sorry for sidetracking the topic here. Newkid, as with all projects the more we know the better we can help. I could tell you I have a battery and light bulb and the light is not shining. people could speculate for hours as to the reason. but if i told them...

9V alkaline batteries and drawdown time.

oh also having 2 9volts in series will produce 18volts at about 550mmah. if you upgrade to 12 AA or C or D batteries then you get more amp hours thus giving your project a longer life. http://www.batteryweb.com/pdf/inverter_battery_sizing_faq.pdf shows a basic setup of solar but can be used...

    Peltier Can Cooler

A peltier device is simply a device that converts electricity into temperature difference, i.e. one side hot one side cold. the amount of watts consumed tells us how much heat is moved from one side to the other. convert watts into amps (or vice versa) and you'll see that the lower the amps the...

9V alkaline batteries and drawdown time.

it depends on your 9v. from my memory (which is fractured so please be nice if I am wrong) its aroud 550mah. if you draw 100 ma per hour you'll get 5.5 hours in total. having said that it'll probably drop after 3-4 to a voltage below that which most circuits can use

Political argument (Yeah, this is going to end well)

here in Australia they only have to serve 1 term (3 years) to get that pension. My theory is slightly different to yours though green. whatever the politicians LOWEST approval rating is that is the percentage of their pension they are entitled too.. this will make them work for the people again

    Cheapest LED light

what sort of AA batteries did you buy? ni-mh /ni-cd? if you are using these for this project please tread carefully. whille AA batteries are considered safe they still can get a little acid build up, I have seen a few "POP" as well. and thats the basic batteries, if you have bad LiPo batteries...

    (Not so) Common Knowledge

common sense is not common at all. this spreads across all fields. when I was a chef I had a kitchenhand try to put out a deepfryer fire with water. when I did computing (lastet about 4 weeks lol) I had a guy come in after he lost all data on his computer, when I found out he was going through...
