    Stranded wire would be a better choice here. Not only for soldering, but where flexibility is desired. If you want to join solid wire, I recommend crimp on butt connectors.

    The reason you cant find it is because they don't make them. Usually larger screws are used with larger wire sizes in order to handle the current. Closest I think you'll find is a 1/4in lug hole

    You could use a 7414 "And" gate ic, but you'd need to convert your 230vac signals to logic level.

    No it wasn't switched on. I've got the receiver portion driving a night light for testing purposes. I adjusted sensitivity pot just below the threshold where triac switches on, so it's as sensitive as it can be. Transmitter just doesn't seem to have enough wattage to work over long distances...

    Aww man! I'm bummed out. I got the circuit working good inside the house, but it doesn't work outside at 400ft. I will make sure I'm using transmitter and receiver on the same branch circuit cable but I doubt it will work. I guess I need to add a second stage to the transmitter it more powerful.
