    Screw the simulation software, ask the people who make proteus. That circuit by resqueline will work. It is so simple you don't need simulation software to see how it works. The pic either turns the mosfet on or off which allows current to flow across the speaker. Think light switch.

    Couldn't you just do this with some relay's? Power the relay with the ac power, when it drops out then the NO contacts would close and connect the battery. Maybe for some protection you could use an rc time delay circuit to make sure the power doesn't just flicker and really goes out.

    Are you sure this amp is gonna run on 6V? Also if you tie the battery pack into the old transformer wires, then there will be a diode voltage drop, so now you are looking at 5.3V to the amp. I don't know but this sounds too low.
