    I'd guess at 24V. Are there any other devices that have particular operating voltages such as a relay etc? 24V because a 25V capacitor would be too close and the next 'level' up would be the 50V device.

    The manufacturers will have a comprehensive datasheet explaining the whole marking sequence. Most users will get by with the value/voltage alone. I note that he capacitor is an X2 class though (Google it!) You might get clue as to zener rating from the voltage rating of any smoothing...

    Power wire will have insulation to suit the voltage in use. The wire you use for solar panels will depend on the current, voltage and length. You can parallel cables to increase the current handling capacity.

    ISTR that the OP uses one of those Chinese component testers - I know from experience that they tend to show triacs as a low-ohm resistor whether or not they are good/bad. Those testers are not suited to this type of component.

    What does that prove? If the battery is connected you will be putting 12V across your meter (on the continuity range) if the load is shorted (the reason a fuse would blow) and if the battery is disconnected you won't measure anything - fault or not. You can certainly check for 12V on one side...

    My suggestion would be that it's a cheap meter. Sadly you can be encouraged to purchase cheap (but useless) meters when there are actually some very good 'cheap' multimeters out there - like the AN8008 for example has had 'rave' reviews for its functionality and practicality.
