    Dryer not spinning

So my job tomorrow is to fix a dryer that is not spinning. That is all I know from the complaint. I will first start by checking to see if the breaker has been thrown. If breaker good and outlet has voltage across it, I will check resistance of the door switch to make sure it is closed when...

    Calculating current through resistors

Sorry, I thought it was unconventional to write 1RΩ, LOL, but didn't think that it was 1kΩ! o_O;)

Why I haven't been posting too much this weekend.

    Speedy recovery Steve!

Good evening all. I have just signed up.

Awesome! Are those old nitro reels above your work station?

    Looking for replacement for capacitor

Not necessarily a perfect match, but perhaps this company can help you.

    hyperion 1420i net3 Charger

Are you able to charge something still? Does the charging circuit still function? My thoughts are that the load from the coffee pot caused the generator to dip and then to surge and possibly some small discrete got fried open. I also wonder whether the chipset detects a fault open in the...

    Designing a Time Delayed Relay

Not sure if I can save any meaningful space since three sides contain the items that need to be kept away from each other. It would be nice to make this more compact, more free space in the box for wires, etc. I will give it some time and consideration and see what I can come up with. I think I...

    Holiday PCB production schedules?

Does anyone know if there are better times to put a board in for production with the folks in China? My guess is that there is a huge amount of work being sent over around this time of year or perhaps wrapping up some large orders. Would you put in a board order now or would you wait? Curious...

    Designing a Time Delayed Relay

Thanks Kris, do you think I can make it smaller? I am thinking about investing the time to throw it through diptrace.

    Designing a Time Delayed Relay

Nothing exiting, but when I looked over my printout of the board, the traces under the switching regulator had some faint traces that could short out. I am sure it was only the limitations of an inkjet printer showing up, but I figured if I get a tin whisker under there I will never find it!! I...

    PCBweb Software?

I will let you know. I wonder if the developers have thought of backwards compatibility from a gerber file - i.e. - most software use the gerber file as a generic format so why not pull the relevant data from that and format into the new software.

    PCBweb Software?

I think I might download it just to give its auto placement and router a spin! Are you familiar with whether it can import a schematic from another program?

    PCBweb Software?

Shame it didn't work out Dan, integration with Digikey is a huge plus because of their extensive inventory... I like Eagle despite the difficulties in creating new components, but I was really impressed with DipTrace's auto placement feature. That it works hand in hand with the autorouter means...

    Verizon and supercookies

LOL, there will be more than that, I can assure you! It will require a full detailed study on my part because I have very little experience in the network side of things aside from knowing some basic topologies and generalities.

    Calculating current through resistors

Agreed, the group in the center is nothing more than nested parallel resistors that can get resolved down to an equivalent resistance. Can anyone show the math to distribute the voltage drop to each individual resistor in the parallel network?

    Verizon and supercookies

That alone would be a worthy reason to buy a new router! I will have to look into that as an option. Thanks :-)

    Verizon and supercookies

Not to get political, but nepotism and favoritism has been around a lot longer than the US governmental issues. The current administrations "czars" is an interesting slippery slope of unconstitutional abuse of power (eliminating the checks and balances of power by creating a one man task...

    Verizon and supercookies

In the states we have a massive provider of internet,tv and telcom services called verizon. There was a recent article about them using supercookies that you can not disable - apparently they inject the code in on their end. Interesting read: Verizon

    Today's salvage

Nice haul! Did the p.s. fail? The rectifier looks like it has a scorch mark on one of its legs.
