    Modding a 8'in Plasma Ball?

I played around with these things a while back. *steve*'s right that looking at the schematic might help if you've got one. The globe is filled with one of several types of speicalty gases, argon being one of the most often used. But depending on the gas, and the voltage used, you can vary...

    seasons greetings to all

Happy Holidays. Looks like only us warm-weather people are here right now. (Arizona) Maybe the more Northernly climes are under too much snow and ice.

    Motor limit switch circuit?

The U.S. industrial electronics industry calls Harald's 'end-switches' , 'limit switches', if you go looking them up in U.S. catalogs. I assume Harald is using the European name for them.

What type of a connector is it?

It looks like a standard MOLEX type connector to me. Check their website.

    Double Posts Every Time

I don't know why, but apparently only some of us experienced the problem. I'm not seeing it at all any more. Thanks for whatever you did.

Obsolete Harris IC - Need help

Ford pays to own the rights to part numbers in their gear, no matter who makes them. You'd have to be lucky enough to find somebody who can cross the part numbers, I never have. When this happens, I check Craigslist & Ebay, and try to find the same make and model to strip parts from...

    Replacing old Motorola Zeners

Or, if you find a good diode, you can set-up a test circuit, and determine the zener voltage from that one for each of your unknown diodes.

USING A CELLPHONE AS REMOTE CONTROL

I agree BobK, I just would like it better, if it wasn't from us, here.

    [newbie] Powering car horn?

And there are smaller peizo sirens and buzzers, .... but they don't sound like car horns.

    Replacing old Motorola Zeners

Sounds like proprietary (in-house) numbering system to me.

    IR15R1A50 ?

It's in a stud package, probably some high current diode. IR discontinued all support for it in 2007, and the company that bought the product-line (Vishay), didn't pick it up with the rest of that family of semiconductors. I'm guessing it's a 50Amp diode of some type.

USING A CELLPHONE AS REMOTE CONTROL

As a worry-wart from the States, I'm a little leery of anybody wanting to learn how to use a cell-phone as a 'remote control', or rather, remote 'detonator'. Just my 2-cents worth.

    [newbie] Powering car horn?

My input, is to get a small (loud) piezo siren or buzzer. They're loud, and lower voltage and current.

    IR15R1A50 ?

Anybody know an equivalent for an International Recitifier IR15R1A50? Talked to IR, they 'divested' this product line to Vishay in 2007. Talked to Vishay, they didn't continue this device in their revised equivalent product line. (In fact, they didn't keep any of the IR data on this device at...

    Double Posts Every Time

Using Chrome, Windows 7, Had to double-post. It's not a big problem, because I've been working with it for a while now. I 'Control C' to copy my post, then have to log out, log back in and 'Control V' to enter the post before my time expires again. Just letting you know, it's still happening.

    Electronics company going bust

Your problem is that you care if the product worked or not. As a tech, I find myself in similar circumstances often. I'm told that I don't see the 'big picture', which I interpret to be the business end (ie: profit margin) People who run companies don't care if they're making widgets, or...
