    Yeah, it's a thermal fuse. You should be able to cross the numbers on it to the correct amperage. Each manufacturer also used the colored goop to seal it, to designate the amperage for their product line. Buy two if you use you're rice cooker regularly. I blow mine about once a year.

    You NEVER stand in front of the cabinet when you fire it up. I've seen 3, 4160VAC switchgear explosions. and more 480VAC malfunctions than I can count. Best 'don't do it' thing I've seen was a jouneyman (woman) electrician apprentice who knew it all, and wouldn't listen to the mentor guys...

    I don't know if you've opened-up the chassis yet, but the first thing I'd do, is open up the unit and use compressed air to clean-out the dust inside of it. The temperature sensors may be tripping because it's actually hot inside the chassis from dust accumulation.

    There ARE Japanese to JEDEC cross references available (or there were anyway), I have an old one in print form. NTE is another cross-reference system you might try.
