    If regulating temperature is your goal, converting your furnace to two stage might be the best option. A damper will then switch from heating the upstairs, and then the downstairs.

    I would say you need at least 4 or 5 times the rated current to start the motor. So I would say at least 2.5 or 3 amps for the motor plus whatever the controller draws. One caveat is, I have no idea what language that link was in.

    Oh, you are right. They do make switches with a make and break delay, but yes, that circuit won't work.

    L1 stands for line 1 or "hot" but this could be + for dc circuit also.

    Pushing button will energize coil. Once coil energizes, relay contact closes and shorts across push button contacts. This lets button to be briefly pushed and relay coil has continuous power. Once you understand, we will move on.

    I Just drew simple relay logic that has a holding contact to latch relay coil power. No monostable needed. All you need is pushbuttons with seperate open and closed contacts. And a few relays with contacts heavy enough to handle motor current. I don't know what multisim 11 is. ?

    The nc contacts are all in series, by pushing any button you kill power to one side of circuit. Just use a separate relay contact to feed the motor at whatever speed you want to send to it.

    Any type of relay would work. A latching relay would probably not be the best option.
