    Primary current times primary voltage = watts. Assuming 'perfect' transformation, x watts in the primary = x watts in the secondary. Measure transformer primary volts and current (at full load) and do the maths (for ball park indication of whether you're exceeding your meters 600A range).

    Solder balls will only adhere due to residual flux which should be washed off after any soldering process anyway. Solder balls that adhere to other solder (or tracks) won't move anyway so will be of no concern.

    What LEDs are you using? I suspect the minimum current for EACH would be 10 or 20mA which, on their own, is far in excess of anything the port itself can supply. An external supply will be mandatory.

    We can't comment on the expected current levels without details of the transformer. Measuring the primary side and using the usual transformer calculations (for a ballpark figure) should work though.

    Helps if you mention it in your opening post...... IIRC the key/rfid system isn't in the ECU anyway - it's usually a separate module. On my car it's located behind the rear view mirror. with what? The EPROMS are (potentially) customised to the vehicle - although one from an identical model...

    The output can drop as much as 2.5V with a 200mA load. Your simulation likely used an 'idealised' component rather than a real-world version.

    You won't get anything more than a few mA from the parallel port. The usual way is to fit an off-port PSU socket on your external device and power it for a small wall wart or similar.

    I certainly wouldn't! The fault symptoms don't point to anything like the transistors being faulty. Testing individual parts by removing them from the board is a 'beginners' short-cut and rarely resolves anything but often creates even more problems. But that circuit board isn't the 'brains'...
