    Turn the meter to the V range (20V) which is at about 3 o'clock on the dial. Might need the 200V range if the meter 'over-ranges' i.e. the measured voltage is greater than 20V. Negative lead (black) on the chassis, red lead touching points TP1 to TP5 respectively.

    except in this example I don't think this is the case. Let's see the other side of the connector as it likely has polarisation tabs on it (or the connector itself has a none-rectangular shape) and there are a gazillion like it - it's just a bit of a minefield trying to find the 'exact' one...

    I think the 'Y (why) don't use BR-R for step up voltage' was the question........ There's no reason why you can't use BR-R to step up the voltage. Transformers are 'bi-directional' but you MUST be cautious of the absolute ratings to prevent overloading.

    Try your local college - they tend to have an annual clear out of old equipment that has (usually) been well maintained but their budgets require them to purchase new equipment on a regular basis.     PA stands for 'Public Address'. The system is usually based on a high voltage audio transmission (50V or 100V) to counter resistive loss in long cables but each speaker requires a step-down transformer at the speaker itself in order to work. There's nothing special about the wiring however...
