    Googling for "F29 ferrite slug" produces a result which indicates where you can get one. I wish you and @Audioguru knew about Google. It's a great resource. From the looks of it, the slug is 6mm in length. The former may be harder to find, but a cylinder of paper and some wax may work fine...

    I like the cirqoid :-) The pick and place looks a bit micky mouse, and I'd probably investigate using the device to make a solder stencil rather than lay down paste pad by pad like that. It's still a pretty expensive tool though. But I want one! :-)

    The figures I used for copper wire were really designed to show that it was an unwieldy solution. I didn't suggest nichrome wire because that is also unwieldy. Why not use appropriately rated resistors so you don't have to concern yourself with keeping the whole thing insulated?

    They are copies of article from a magazine. You can see the details at the bottom of the pages. LMGTFY The first article has information about the coil former and how to wind the coil. You can do it yourself.

    That's not a normal rating for a resistor. The resistor will be dissipating 96W, so it's a 1.5Ω 100W resistor. To make one out of copper wire, you'd have to find some thin copper wire that is capable of carrying more than 8A and cutting a length long enough to have a resistance of 1.5 ohms...

    Here are two other options. The first used a TDA7000, is simple, and the chip is still easily available. The second is a more discrete version, but the explanation that goes along with it may be more useful
