    And if you see the picture with multiple lines through it, your vertical deflection circuit is on the way out. Sometimes I've found that to be the power transistor is the vertical deflection circuit. But KJ6EAD is right about leaky caps too.

    Seems like a lot of possible variables to set off the alarm. Did you consider optical? Beam of light being broken? Maybe one of the game-trail camera-type devices that are triggered by activity. Proximity sensors or even pressure tape on your side of the fence. A watchdog?

    Go to any hardware or home improvement store and buy a replacement three-prong plug. They usually come with wiring directions these days, but the guy in the store should be able to tell you how to wire it if you need additional help. It's easy to do, don't be afraid of the job.
