    Currents in Circuits.

I don't understand how you can't understand that. I don't feel compelled to use it, but you brought-up the water pipe metaphor. You've got a water pipe with water running throught it. Down the line you've got other pipes branching off the line. The water current through the first pipe is...

    Broken Car Amp

You've got TO-220 Pkg power devices bolted to both sides of the chassis (sandwiched by another metal plate to help dissipate heat). There are 3 leads on each one of these devices. Use an ohm-meter (amp NOT powered), and check continuity between the 3-pins on each device. You're probably...

    Broken Car Amp

If you can submit a picture of the board, you'll get a LOT of responses from guys on this website with advice. In car amps these days, the output amps are typically big multipinned modules that will be bolted to a heat sink to dissipate the power. My advice is to add the picture to your post...

    Broken Car Amp

Typically the output amplifier section goes. First check the fuses (power input to the amp), then see if there are fuses to the output (speakers). (could be internal to amp, or in-line with the speaker wires). If the fuses are ok, usually the output amplifier transistors are blown. (And...

kitchen hood: Problem wiring my power-open damper.

I'm with duke37. YOU know what you want, but WE'RE not real clear about what you're trying to tell us. I'm thinking (because I don't know) that you have a separate switch for the light and the fan (with multiple speeds on the fan). Your damper is just tied to input power to the light/fan...

    wiring color schematic (pinout)

Yeah, I think the Chinese are best at reverse engineering. (But us Americans still try to give them a run for their money).

    Exploring rotary encoder problems

Usually just dirty contacts. Interferes with the connection to the contacts.

    Toshiba CX36H60 -no vertical raster

Good work. Especially without the schematic.

Somebody might answer who is familiar with your chair. (I'm not) First thing to do, is find it's fuse.

    wiring color schematic (pinout)

I can't help with the Gigawear. The USB connection should be standard. Look-up the USB pin configuration, and you should be able to find out which wires from the Gigawear went to which function on the USB. (You've got both wired ends of the cable you cut, so you can follow the wires to the...

    Old data books

Yeah, and daddles post must have helped. Haven't heard a peep from Paxee since I replied. I hope SOMEBODY gets the data books if I can't. I'm ok with archivists at Berkley, it's them anarchists I worry about.

    Unknown component

If you don't have it, get the data sheet on the 8051. We can help, but you'd help yourself by laying the groundwork for yourself.

kitchen hood: Problem wiring my power-open damper.

I'd wire the damper to the power to the fan. When the fan turns on, the damper starts opening. It should only take a couple of seconds to open the damper, and shouldn't be much of a problem for the fan. It isn't exactly what you want, but easy to figure-out, and should work.

Double Shielded Coaxial Cable for a Vehicle Tachometer

Hope the clamps solve your problem. If one way of looping the cable doesn't work, the theory is sound, just try a couple different ways to make it work effectively. I'm like you with your design engineer. I don't know why he specified what he did. You've got a lot of ideas from a lot of...

    Toshiba CX36H60 -no vertical raster

Horizontal output transistor. Check the resistors and capacitors connected to it in case they were also damaged.

Double Shielded Coaxial Cable for a Vehicle Tachometer

Put the strain on the cable, not the connector. Newark 34C1955 thru 34C1954 Voltrex cushioned cable clamps. Loop the cable from the connector, thru the cable clamp. When the cable gets yanked, the cable clamp keeps the cable from being pulled out of the connector. Bolt the cable clamp to...

    Static noise iPhone

    1) you might have a bad aux cord cable. 2) you might be getting induced signals from nearby electronics. a) flourescent lamps nearby? b) some motorized device that causes electrical noise 3) whenever I use any cable into my amplifier, I always make SURE it's not close to any other...

Double Shielded Coaxial Cable for a Vehicle Tachometer

Your photo clearly shows a triax connector. Co-ax is two conductor, the center wire and the shield Tri-ax is three conductor, the center wire and TWO braided shield wires. Why don't you check with your engineer, and see if you really need your low-loss triax cable. I just did a quick check...

Double Shielded Coaxial Cable for a Vehicle Tachometer

It sounded like the cable is being yanked out if it's connector. I don't see how a strain relief is going to fix that. Armored cable, soldered to the BNC barrels at both ends?
