    Old data books

Thanks Resqueline. I repair a lot of 1970's/80's test and measurement instruments. Most manufacturers stopped printing data books, and put their new specs on-line. VERY few of them went back to put their OLD part data on-line. And a lot of the old part manufacturers either went out of...

Double Shielded Coaxial Cable for a Vehicle Tachometer

That looks like an Amphenol Triax connector to me. The part number etched at the end of the connector will give you the part number. I think we told you everything we could. Triax is used specifically for low loss applications. I'm assuming your engineers selected specifically for that...

I can't get power to this vacuum pump

I used Thomas pump/compressors in industrial pneumatic valve applications. They're great. They also have excellent product support with parts and spec sheets. Resqueline gave you the info you need. If you need more help, Thomas can give it to you. You made a good choice there. Thomas is...

    Old data books

Just emailed my son. He can make a run up to San Leandro sometime this weekend if you want to give them away. He can get them to me (I live in AZ).

    Old data books

I'm interested. I don't know how to connect with you to trade information, maybe Resqueline or somebody can give me tips on getting personal info from you. I've got my oldest boy in Mountain View. I could get him to pick them up if I know where to point him. How many boxes are we talking...

Do they make cree night lights now?

If you're still here: Am reading an article on LED lighting. 'Cree' is the name of a company that makes LED replacements for incandescents. www.visionsensorsmag.com "Quality Magazine" September 2011, Volume 50/ Number 9 Article title 'LEDs 101', page number 20VS. Anyway, to answer your...

    capacitor codes

If the cap has a company logo on it, check their website. davelectronic's guess is probably correct. A lot of manufacturers use a prefix to designate a particular class or physical size of their specific product.

    Circuit Analysis Help-Delta to Wye

Resqueline answered the drawing question. Look for information on 3-Phase 480VAC wiring (Electrical, not electronic). For more information on the delta and wye configurations for power applications. From what I remember the delta and wye are for increasing/decreasing the voltage to current ratio...

Double Shielded Coaxial Cable for a Vehicle Tachometer

daddles & poor mystic make sense. But this is a new design for a new vehicle. They may be running some kind of higher frequency RF for the signal to some central computer or even a wireless reporting instrument. We're just guessing from the description of the problem here. I used to work...

    DPDT push buttton switch

We're just a bunch of people who try to help with problems in electronics, not a supplier of parts. I believe from what you said, that you're having a problem with your module using your present DPDT Push-Button-Switch. The first thing you need to make sure of is the action of the switch. Do...

Double Shielded Coaxial Cable for a Vehicle Tachometer

Brother, the more you talk about it, the more I'm thinking your existing cable IS already triax. Take a close look at the 'BNC' connector. It's probably not a two conductor conventional coax cable you've got. You're misunderstanding the word 'triax', a triax cable and connector look outwardly...

Double Shielded Coaxial Cable for a Vehicle Tachometer

Consider TRIAX cable/connectors. (Unless that's what you're using now, ...you weren't very clear). I'm guessing your problem is induced vehicle electrical noise onto your cable. Be careful exactly WHERE you ground one shield of the triax, to cut your noise.

    beta vcr repair

I've been keeping my Beta machines going since I chose them over VHS in the 80's (And oh yeah, I invested the the CED laser discs too). Resqueline pretty-much gave you the scoop. It doesn't sound like you have any idea how to do alignment adjustments. It'll run you $75 to $150 to have a TV...

I can't get power to this vacuum pump

Contact the vendor, and ask them. Didn't you get an instruction sheet when you made the purchase? The vendor or the manufacturer will be able to give you the information you need. If you don't do any of that. Tell us the manufacturer and model number of your pump, and somebody here will...

    Identify component

Oh. I know the resistor doesn't look burned. There's no other flux anywhere around there, and it leaked down the board. The resistor probably had a conformal coating on it, that melted from heat.

    Identify component

When resistors with painted color bands heat up, some paint can change color. I'd go with what the manual schematic says it ought to be. (I don't know the science of the dyes/tints in the paints, I've just seen it happen, and know it happens for a fact) Good luck with it. ps. Something...

    Rascal Alarm Problem Help Please!

The people you find on this site are generally very helpful (Even though I wasn't much help to you on this specific problem, not knowing your alarm system). If you have other questions, there's no inconvenience in asking for help. Most of the people here look for challenges in electronic...

    Timer Question

Possibly unhelpful trivia: I had a tank I kept an exotic specie in that was not near sunlight source. Used LED's for lighting. Was losing them, went to a different type of LED and had better luck. I believe it's possible different wavelengths of LED light might be helpful or not, if your...

Need help with circulation pump backup???

The price of UPS units (Uninterruptable Power Supply) is coming down because people want them for their computer gear. You might be able to find a used one relatively cheap. It'd automatically switch on for you. Only drawback is the number of hours your power outages are. Are they...

    Alarm Installation

Like *steve* said, common 'logic' circuits use 5V for 'logic high'. There are some families of devices that can operate up to 18VDC. Is this a theory question for homework, or do you have a specific logic family in mind? (Is there a particular device in a particular circuit you're asking about?)
