Electronics 101? (Are there online classes available anywhere?)

I'd take it out the back and beat it with a stick for its impudence! You could start a thread on the radio listing the problem(s) and get an idea of what's involved with repairing such by following instruction we could give.

Please help to buy those components

Can you scan a copy of the pages you're referring to into here? I don't think we're about to purchase a book just to help you resolve some construction issues but if you posted the pages we could tell you how to proceed. I don't know of ANY construction book of that level that simply states...

    Help Looking for ideas

Have you checked out the various magazine repositories? There are websites that archive old electronics magazines that are full of projects of all sorts for the DIYer to build. I have a collection of over 100Gb of magazines that I use just for reference purposes but many of them are available...

Please help to buy those components

All I can recommend is that you obtain some ferrite/dust iron toroids and wind coils to those values yourself. The Micrometals range are popular and fairly easy to obtain. There are various sites that offer help in doing this - tools for calculating the required number of turns etc, such as...

Wanted: want to buy a DC to ac rotary power inverter (1 - 3 kW )

Input volts? Output volts? Output frequency?

    Repairing a slide potentiometer

That's a carbon track deposited on the surface and is created with a specific resistance for its length. You will not be able to repair the track (conventionally) but replacement slider resistors should be available. Any markings on the one you have fitted?

What made you want to get started in building projects then?

Please help to buy those components

Does the book not advise on how to MAKE those coils? They do sound like INSTRUCTIONS rather than a list of bits to be purchased.

    Puzzeled?

Seems like the transmitter isn't functioning properly. Proper repairs would be the correct way to go. Taping a clamp meter to it seems a bit...... silly?

    2 digit LED counter

Where from? How much? I suspect they are Chinese origin and probably cheaper to replace than to source an individual part for it.

    Xmas light string controller

Re-check the pin polarity of the devices fitted.

I need a equivalent of an integrated circuit.

I think you're completely stuck then. Without a schematic to determine its operation you can't even 'guess' how to replace it.

I need a equivalent of an integrated circuit.

Is that a label stuck on top? If it is then there might be something under it that helps. But it looks suspiciously like an ASIC to me (application specific) so the only source would be the OEM.

Solar astronomy taken to a new level for me

makes you wonder if, should any planets exist in such a globular cluster, would life be able to from an planets that would have, effectively, no nights? At best, the night skies would be as bright as a cloudy day (perhaps?).

    Christmas Tree LED lights

Return them and purchase some that already have that function. Seriously, it's far more trouble than it's worth to do something you can purchase for pennies (figuratively). But if you really want to do this yourself then yes, voltages and currents will be needed although 'generically' you will...

    Load Cell vs Pocket Scale

Have you done an internet search for 'hacks' of that scale? I know that there are many hacks for the digital calipers that engineers use and suspect there may also be at least one to extract the serial data from such a scale. Here's an example of hacking a kitchen scale to give you some idea...

    Guitar Pickup Winder

Stepper motors seem the logical solution. Get the head mechanism from an old CDROM drive as it has a helical screw movement that would be ideal for creating the left-right movement for layered winding. Another (larger) stepper motor could be used for the main core wind process. Controlling...

Best value resistor to discharge .45 F cap?

You'd need a fairly large (physically) resistor to NOT notice the heat too much. A 3W LED dissipates sufficient heat - in a bedside lamp environment - to be almost too hot to touch. To make it you have to dissipate the heat over a large area.

I need a equivalent of an integrated circuit.

Where did you get THIS information? How did you determine it was a 'dual de-mod/filter IC'??

Solar astronomy taken to a new level for me

Excellent imaging - the granulation is very clear too. My favourite images are like the globular clusters and Eta Carina as the sheer number of stars - and potential planets around them - always make my hair stand on end. When I first saw the Hubble Deep Space image I was spellbound for hours!
