    Novice needs help farting around...

Just to add to Bluejets post.. It is a basic "wire and buzzer game" circuit. Thousands of examples on the Super Highway.. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=buzz+wire+game+wiring&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjf99WW8YDLAhWB7xQKHYijAxYQ_AUICCgC&biw=1429&bih=702&dpr=0.9 Martin

    I think I am a Technolic.

Haha, I am not sure who's worse. The OP or Dave for thinking ahead about internet access! I have two examples of funny ways that technology can let you down!! Keeping them very short: My sister had a party and didn't want my terabytes of organized music. She said that her wifi speakers and...

    Chosing the Right Tweeter

I agree with dorke.. The tweeter will have an Ohm rating and wattage rating. Try and replace with same specifications. The size might be a problem, so be prepared for small adjustments on the cabinet opening. Martin.

    Solder reflow

Your best bet is a hot air/solder station. A dedicated machine for this purpose. The trick is to remove the component, apply solder paste and apply heat again. I say a dedicated machine because people do use hot air guns that also release all the surrounding components too. Not a desired...

    Oscillating pulse to stable

Hi Ken, This probably has something to do with other threads! I sometimes wonder if they keep secrets in case somebody pinches their idea . As Bob said, there is no point.! What next? A johnson counter that doesn't count! EDIT: What you want is a dead 555 timer....That should do the...

    Paddle mixer speed controller

Hi Andy, Have a look on the www for an inline motor rheostat. I have bought one and put an IEC connector for all my 110v tools. The IEC makes it similar to Festool, where one lead is needed for all tools!. These motor controllers fail so often it's unbelievable they are still so popular. I am...

    Successful monitor repair

Well done Bigone5500, it's so obvoius that manufacturers need to find another way to keep caps away from heat. Or better still, a way to stop them being the number 1 failure prone component! It will probably outlast new monitors bought today!!:) If low ESR and high temp caps were used.. Martin

    Oscillating pulse to stable

Apart from what others have suggested, in particular Bobk "defeats the object", I would suggest not using a 555 at all or bypass the one you have. But as others have said, what exactly do you want to do? Martin

    Rechargeable Batteries Question

Noooo, my mothers name is Maureen too.... I still think the same rule applies. Store rechargeables discharged.. Unless it's a week or two before using them. Even then, after two or three days I would fully charge them before going out. (assuming you are talking RC flying). If they are old and...

    Greetings from the Crystal Wizard!

Welcome aboard @Crystal Wizard Hopefully you can give me some pointers. I would like to tell you though that Whoo Whoo projects get shut down pretty quickly!! As do 'powers of crystals'.. But as your forum name suggests, you should already know the answers!! Martin

    looking for Flukeview CD

Just to reiterate, you can legally copy any 'copy right' material IF you are the legal owner and keep a copy for lost/detroyed/broken etc the original cd. MS Windows will be a good example. You can pretty much download it from anywhere provided it has not been tampered with/changed etc. But your...

    Rechargeable Batteries Question

Hi my mothers name sake (Maureen), Harold has a good reason for mentioning that paragraph. Think "tool batteries", they normally always fail because of one faulty cell. IE, lots in series, rather than charged individually. If you do indeed have "millions", I am also sure that lots are old nicad...

    CD Tray Won't Open

There does seem to be some confusion between SA's and SC's. Although manuals for SA's do show SC's. But it definitely seems to be a 5 disc changer. http://www.propertyroom.com/l/panasonic-saak29-5-cd-stereo/7711960...

    building radio control

Hi farrokh, I would take the advice given above. BUT, if you insist on learning, learn with something that stays on the floor. Like a car first! I don't know the frequencies for aircraft or cars in China. In UK we have 27mhz for cars and 35mhz for aircraft. Except now, they have changed to...

    Need help working this out

Hi Ashton, If you started the course a little late or having problems understanding it, I suggest you do some home learning by yourself. This can sometimes make it all drop into place (for me at least). You can start with something like this tutorial. There are many many more to view too. Martin

Hello Everyone, Newbie here ! Need help repairing a amplifier.

Hi Larry, These appear to have a second name....Flame 400's!! Have you checked for burnt resistors? That certainly seems to be a known fault with these amps. Where are you measuring 56VDC from the right channel? These amps also have no output protection either. Perhaps some nice clear close...
