    Oven Elements Going Bad

Can you clean the contacts the element plugs into? If it's corroded, it may not be making good electrical contact with the new element. Frankly though, Resqueline is correct about low quality replacement parts from after-market vendors. I don't know much about heating elements for ovens, is it...

    Broken Capacitor

When you add solder to get the joint liquified, use a needle of some type, and push the broken leads from the top of the PCB, through the hole and out the bottom where most of the lead is visible. Some mfgrs crimp the component lead on the top side, so it stays in place when they solder-flow...

Want to amplify voltage ? help please..

*steve*'s right. It helps if you specify AC or DC (for input and outputs). Transformers will do it for AC in, and AC out. Inverter for DC in, and AC out. Some kind of DC/DC converter for DC in, and DC out.

    Marantz 4300

I'm wondering what you were trying to drive when you installed the amp boards. Yes, I'd disconnect the outputs, and start checking your voltages. Also, I haven't seen a Marantz in a lot of years. The ones I've seen had switchable power input 120VAC/220VAC (and switchable 50/60Hz). Are you sure...

    COOKER HOOD START CAPACITOR

Just be careful physically when installing substitute. You don't want the fan shakiing it loose, touching something it shouldn't.

    Diode

I checked the data sheets, barathbushan is correct. But we can't know your circuit. You might want to look at the data sheet for each. UF2008 www.alldatasheet.com UF5408 www.datasheetcatalog.com

    How to organize electronic components

Use the black ESD foam or static shield bags for your static sensitive IC's. If you start accumulating a lot of IC's it'll help if you try to keep types separate, so you can find what you want faster. (CMOS, Linear devices, Logic, stuff like that). You can cut the foam to the plastic drawer...

Obsolete Harris IC - Need help

I see it. Gotta be proprietary part numbers for Ford. Best bet might be to try to find that amp in a car junk yard, and salvage a working unit, or use for parts. I don't know anybody that has cross ref for audio elec parts for Ford cars. A lot of the car salvage yards in my area have...

Looking for a laser toner vacuum cleaner

The issue is usually the micron size of the filter. I've seen elec shop vacs that you select the correct size filter (mesh), for the job you need done.

    Tektronix 2445 readout problem

Don't have a manual right now. What I remember is you've got a 4 channel storage scope. Biggest problem I've seen is the actual push-button switches failing to engage or disengage. When one switch gets stuck, it locks-out the other functions. If you can, get at the switches (the push-buttons are...

Obsolete Harris IC - Need help

Might help if you told us the mfgr of your power amplifier. If we know the mfgr, someone might know the proprietary numbering system.

    Electronic components online stores

It'd help if we knew where you were. The other thing, is if you need a well-stocked inventory, or just surplus items. In U.S.: MCM Electronics Jameco Electronics Express Mouser All Electronics Corp. Plenty of others. They'll all put you on their mailing list if you want a print catalog...

    ESD protection for mosfets?

It seems unreasonable to just tell you to add some miraculous components to 'prevent ESD damage'. Pack the board in a static shield bag, and tell whoever removes it, to do so at a ESD safe workbench. (While they're grounded). If this is something a tech is just going to install in the...

    Help with 7 segment display

Find a data sheet on your part number from the web. I am assuming your only problem is that you don't know the pin-outs (which pins to which segments). They'll be listed on the FULL data sheet. If you're really in a bind, trial and error, will get you which segment to which pin.

    Humming question

Yep, like ljcox said, sure sounds like AC hum induced on your cables. Try to get your cable away from power cables. Sometimes motors in electrical heaters, or flourescent lamps on the same power leg (plugged into the same power source), can cause it. It helps if you buy good quality shielded...

    Tarnished silver

If you can get at it, I use one of the old hand-held pencil erasers. I've used Tarn-X, but it has a tendency to pit the surface of the metal if you leave it on too long. On the pencil erasers, if it's an odd shape, I cut the eraser with an X-acto Knife, to the shape I want. With silver...

    Intercom and GSM Buzz

If it helps, we used to have a remote monitoring station close to a radio station transmitter. We put inductors on all the lines (believe it or not, inductors only), and cut down quite a bit on the interferrence. I don't know how well that'd work on a 2GHz line, but it's an idea to think...

    soil moisture sensor

It's a simple circuit. Start looking for circuits using a 4011 CMOS IC. I saw somebody make one using 4011's also.
