    design a linear thermistor

*steve*'s right. Thermistor types are typically chosen for their relative 'linearity', WITHIN a specific temperature range. You need to know the temperature range you're looking at, and how accurate you want the circuit to be. Thermistors are not linear. They are chosen for their relative...

    Another PbF indicator?

Don't know if there's a question here, or an observation. My general additional input is, that the new 'lead-free' solders, liquify at higher temperatures than lead-based solders. So the temperatures boards and components are exposed to with lead-free solders, is higher.

    Component DK-2 0315

Naw, Rich Webb is probably right about the date code. Most appliance mfgrs have proprietary part numbers on their components. If you can't get ST to cross it for you, that's what you've got. You might need a shop that repairs that model, they'll have the part. Good luck.

    Problems with Oscilloscope

I don't know your scope. It looks like a factory test pattern. Check the manual if you see a switch for factory test mode. It's possible somebody either didn't flip all the switches back to normal when they were checking this scope before they shipped it. I've had Tektronix scopes that the...

Is this mosfet an authentic IR mosfet?

As far as I know, International Rectifier does not make parts in China. Will it work the same? Who knows. China is making better and better stuff all the time, but they are also THE world's prime source for counterfeiting semiconductors. And as near as I can tell, they have NO controls on...

    OT: Musings on CFC afterimages

Yeah. If they're Chinese lamps, could be a commie plot to irradiate our retinas.

    Searching manual and connectors

From your picture: Not sure about the three post/pin connector on the left, But the connector on the right is made by Harwin. (Available from Newark in the US, which I think is Farnell, for you). Don't know about the pdf file, did you try contacting Emerson?

    Sharp Carousel R 1471 Microwave

OK. I assumed Jen110 would know how to identify a fuse. Nobody here wants to see anybody get hurt over a dead microwave. If you're unfamiliar with electronic components, it's best not to try to fix it yourself.

Fuse or thermal fuse inside the microwave? Take the cover off (WITH UNIT UNPLUGGED), and take a look.

    amp

You can bet whatever semiconductor the current passed through that burned-up your resistor, is toast too. At the very least, trace the resistor leg of your circuit to that semiconductor.

Hmmm, I never thought of an LED as a 'lamp' before. Learned something new today.

    Magnetized tools

The biggest problem used to be the old magnetic floppy disks. Companies gave away magnetized small screwdrivers for practical advertising purposes. People used to throw the floppies in their briefcases, with one of those magnetized screwdrivers, and damage their disks. Except for the...

    STV-03h diode replacement

A varistor is basically a surge protector for voltage spikes. If you can figure out your peak/peak voltage and amperage from your circuit, you should be able to get a cheap NTE equivalent. (Which will be rated above your p/p voltage).

    nb advice with project

Several ways to go. Buy a timer/switch that'll do the job. Build or buy a timer, and use relays to direct forward and reverse on the motor, or other ideas that come to mind. You'll get more responses on this site, if you're more specific in what you're doing. AC or DC motor, speed, what...

    Capacitive touch sensor project

You can do it, but it's not a simple circuit, it'll take some parts. For safety reasons (isolating yourself from the power outlet), you have to be pretty careful. I figure there's a circuit available somewhere on Google, but I cheated when I did my first one. I bought one from All...

    Bypassing touch lighting control

Have you got an on/off switch on the lamp itself, or does the lamp rely solely on the touch feature? It's a simple circuit to bypass the touch circuitry. Power directly to the on/off switch, then to the bulb (bypassing the touch circuit). If you don't have an on/off switch on the lamp, you'll...

    House circut help

Take it from my experience. You run your microwave, toaster oven and coffee maker at the same time on one circuit, you'll blow the 15A breaker. Remember, it's possible you've got more than one circuit to your kitchen area also.

    Repairing Keithley 480 picoammeter motherboard

I know it's no help, just wanted to let you know you're not being ignored. I've got access to a pretty extensive manual library, and we don't have a manual on this model. How old is the unit? Maybe somebody might have a better idea where to look, if we knew if this was an older model...
