Loud mains hum with Jaycar short circuits Vol 3 #12

Shielding may help. Is the preamp powered from batteries? If not, try powering it from batteries to see if things improve. If things improve you may have some hum being injected from your power supply or via an earth loop.

Loud mains hum with Jaycar short circuits Vol 3 #12

Can you post the circuit, tell us how it is powered, and how it is connected to the PC. If you short the input of the preamp, is there any change to the hum?

Problem with robot made using arduino

I still don't understand what you're doing or what the problem is.

Using a PIR to turn a light OFF

Connect the pir to a relay and use the normally closed contacts to drive the load. When the pir activates, the relay is pulled in, turning the light off.

Problem with robot made using arduino

Your question is not particularly clear. Do you mean that when you put a load on your robot it would not turn right, but without the load it would? If so, this might indicate that under load the motors generate sufficient noise on your per supply rails that the Arduino is affected. A cure for...

    12VDC Backup supply

You can use diodes on both the auxillary battery and the main 12V supply to prevent either from feeding into the other. This is fine and will do what you want. However, the main problem is the auxillary battery. Wouldn't it be best to use a rechargeable battery? A small 9V battery may not be...

How To Interface 12v 10w Solar Panel To 12v 1.3ah Battery

In that case your arduino has a voltage regulator on it (some don't)

Radio transmitter, options for reducing harmonic emissions

If you can find someone with a spectrum analyser you can quickly see what your transmitted spectrum looks like. With just a carrier you ideally see a single spike, with a square wave, you'll see all the odd harmonics too. Even with a nice pure carrier, if you overmodulate, you'll also see a...

    Throbbing heart project

Search this site for "beating heart", there's a few things there. Also there's a great circuit designed by "Kris" that made a LED flash like a heartbeat.

Take a look at this and this. Boring squares :-)

Smd ics and through hole ics

It's often easier to use an SMD part to replace a through-hole part than the reverse. You may be in for some interesting and fiddly work.

Where to buy EPROM window stickers?

I'm sure if you look in craft shops you might find little punches that will do this for you. Probably not the cheapest option though. You can also buy rolls of small stickers. If be surprised if you can't buy small square metallic ones.

Current limiting in a CC/CV power supply

It is fairly clear that @AnalogKid is referring to other regulated power supplies that output something other than a regulated voltage. It's true, and he's also being hopelessly pedantic as was once started on his sig (if I recall correctly). I would normally assume "constant voltage" if...

Google "nanoammeter circuit". There is a relatively simple circuit.

In the resources section of this site there is a resource about heatsinks. It is incomplete, but it might help.

    Throbbing heart project

Someone here, long ago, built a throbbing heart for his partner. I would recommend a Bluetooth device and a pair of IOT evaluation boards. When your phone pairs with the Bluetooth device, one IOT thing can tell the other to start throbbing.

    120VAC --> 12V LED chip

Using a capacitor to power one or more low power LED is bad enough. Trying to do it for a high power LED is really not advisable.

Current limiting in a CC/CV power supply

Take a look at the most recent video on eevblog (#1030). Although... there's not much construction there.

    Multimeter Spec

Heh, it's shorthand for "this is even more complex". Having worked in an organization where I worked closely with the quality manager, it's also a shortcut for "welcome to the rabbit hole".
