    No not at all. SMD components might get damaged if you take a long time. But generally, you only need a second with a soldering iron. Most people who have problems de-soldering and damaging components don't know how. I normally put a little fresh solder to the joints and then it's easy..

But we also have 1st fix, 2nd fix etc. Or we have Master to Master cabinet maker!! Some prefer to specialize in lathe turning or bespoke furniture etc. I am just a lucky...

    Hi vassock, I would go with the Ancor. But there are many ratchet crimpers for a lot less. I have had my RS branded ratchet crimper for years! Exactly the same as Ancor. But like all tools, it's a personal thing. Martin
