    Help me !

OK, the first think you need to do is to locate the datasheet for the bluetooth adapter.

    Starting with electronics

There's a sticky thread in one of the forums that has a number of book reviews. It might be worth starting there.

For Sale: Electrial Engineer's entire Lab; equipment, instruments & components

Go ahead and post the list. I think it's unlikely you'll sell it all at once unless it's to someone who intends to on sell it (and pay you a relatively small price). The components may be individually with almost nothing up to quite a bit. Unless you're prepared to go through it, or he left a...

ETI magazine Feb 1979 - power supply (ETI-142)

You have one of these? I keep looking at the parts chosen for this and think "I could replace that with a MOSFET", or "a Schottky diode would be great there", but I really want to bring it back to original condition, so I will have to shelve those thoughts.

ETI magazine Feb 1979 - power supply (ETI-142)

I haven't looked at the date codes, but it could be anything up to 38 years old. I'd bet it's more than 30 years old.

    MAX883C/D (Just because!)

No soldering for these. You need to use wire bonding techniques.

ETI magazine Feb 1979 - power supply (ETI-142)

OK, Here's some photos... Here's the unit as I received it: And with the top off: Another view of the insides: From left to right there is the linear regulator, the switching pre-regulator, and the power transformer. The wiring is quite nice. This leads me to feel that the messiness...

    MAX883C/D (Just because!)

I have absolutely no use for these, but they were cheap and I wanted to look at them. Introducing the MAX833C/D. It's nothing really special, just a Low quiescent current, low dropout regulator. They come, 100 at a time in a little box like this: When you open it, it looks like this: What...

    Disable backlight of LCD monitor

Measure the voltage across the LEDs when operating, and then the current through them. From this you can calculate a resistor which will appear to the monitor to be the equivalent of the LEDs.

    Please Check My Circuit

You are best to design the circuit so that the limit switch prevents further movement in that direction but allows movement in the opposite direction. That way the device can drive itself out of the limit. As it is, pressing the reset could allow it to drive further/harder out of limit (I...

    Simple button Repair (I hope)

You could try any thin adhesive tape (I'd give duct tape a miss though). It may work temporarily. Kapton tape (yep, the same stuff as used on 3D printers) would be ideal. You probably want a piece 5mm wide and 20mm long -- not much at all! (And stick it to the board, not the black insulating...

    Oscilloscope probe question.

It may just be badly adjusted (the focus is a front panel control). The big question is how much they will go for. They were apparently sold new up to only a couple of years ago. Check out how much they've sold for recently and whether they've attracted more than 1 bid. They end at pretty...

    Oscilloscope probe question.

There's 2 of them listed. One shows a wider trace than the other. It might be out of focus, has a noisy input, or something else. I hope you get it. Let us know if you do and we can help you check it out if you don't know what to do.

    Simple button Repair (I hope)

Actually, if you're really lucky, you might be able to tape it (the dome) in place. If you have some kapton tape, this would be ideal (use a very thin strip)

    Simple button Repair (I hope)

That's a small tactile switch. Everything will be OK unless you put it down on synthetic carpet... Just kidding, kinda. There's probably nothing on that board which could be easily damaged by static. The same is not true of the rest of the monitor. Depending on how the buttons are mounted...

    Oscilloscope probe question.

To get the full bandwidth out of your scope, you would use 50MHz or higher probes. As a beginner, unless you're measuring very high frequencies or very fast rise times, you can probably get by with almost any set of probes. The cheap options on eBay are: new Chinese imports (of uncertain...
