    Multi meter question?

Because accidents happen. The post of your I was quoting was you criticising fluke meters for their lack of shutters. All shutters do is make it harder to have the probes connected to the wrong jacks. They do nothing to stop you using the meter incorrectly. If you're using a meter in a high...

    Multi meter question?

Other than blowing a fuse, you'd be surprised what you can do to a good meter without destroying it. Try measuring the mains on the resistance range for example. Don't try it on a cheap meter.

    Chip Sheet Data

Yeah, it defines behaviour where the standard definition for the logic family leaves it indeterminate.

    Aaaaagh, I know. Bloody autocorrect.

How to check 5 pf or 1.5 pf disc capacitor

You would need a dedicated capacitance meter (most likely) to measure these. Is there any reason you think they've failed? If they don't measure open on the resistance range then there is a problem.

Think of TTL as a standard for logic circuits the same way that SAE is a standard for threads on bolts. You don't ask how a particular thing which has a thread simulates or emulates the SAE standard. What you do see is that the threads on the things comply with SAE and you can connect them to...

    Resistor across LED

Ok, a simple answer to your original question: it makes sure the LED goes completely off.

    Doubling capacitors in flash?

It just looks like standard fill flash to me. I suspect your technique could use some improvement. You say you don't take advantage of your available sync speed. Moving from 1/100 to 1/250 will give you the equivalent of a 2.5 x increase in flash power. Another important consideration for...

What do you mean by "overpowering the sun"?

circuit to show how much treble or bass

Firing caps? Do you have a starting pistol somewhere in that circuit? I'm not sure you don't understand EPROMs or capacitors, and frankly I'm not sure about your understanding of resistors. You need to ask questions rather than sprouting non-sequiturs.

    Chip Sheet Data

That's the whole point. We have no idea what you're saying. I end up deleting a lot of your posts because they're just nonsense. I thought I may have answered your question (assuming there was one), but each time I read it I'm sure I know less.

    Doubling capacitors in flash?

So what do you actually want to do? And I don't mean adding capacitors, I mean what sort of photography are you currently unable to do that you think adding capacitors to your flash is the answer.

    Doubling capacitors in flash?

It is generally shorter exposures which are a problem when using a flash. Assuming you're using a film with a focal plane shutter, the limit is the fastest speed at which the second curtain is released after the first curtain has fully opened. A focal plane shutter works by having one (first)...

You buy a 7414 and get a 7414. What were you expecting? If you want NAND gates, why not buy then. A 7400 sounds like what you want.

Hahaha Chinese eBay seller and warranty? The only worse thing would be if they were Russian! All joking aside, what short of errors are you getting in the capacitance measurements?

Alternative Transistors for LM317 High Current Voltage Regulator Circuit

On his web site, it is not a 470Ω resistor, it is a 4k7 resistor. 4R7 would be better for his R1. And I have no idea what his R7 is supposed to do. If it is too limit the maximum voltage, or to compensate for the lack of availability of the correct value pot, then it will do this, but in a...

    Looking for a specific transformer

If you place a 1A fuse in series with the mains and get a transformer rated at maybe 15V 4A, you should be fine. If course this assumes you need 3A or less, but we don't know that.

Homemade capacitors, that hold a charge?

It seems wrong to quote the value of a capacitor in the units of inductance don't you think?
