    Op Amp Stability

Hey Lvw That's great. I'll get the model for that and try this myself. Isn't this fun? And for all of us to work together on these things is great. Thanks Adam

Simple Question for those in the electronic field.

Well I think if you asked any of us we would want the best for our money. It does depend on what you want it to do. I used a 50 MHz CRT scope for many years, it served me well. Somtimes people think they need the best scope on the market. Well it all depends on what your doing with it. I think...

    Thankyou Lvw.

    Op Amp Stability

I read some where it gets a bit more complicated than that. 1) As you have already pointed out the op-amp configured as a buffer is potential the most unstable configuration, unless using a unity gain stable op-amp. 2) When used as a buffer the main thing that can happen on the inputs is with...

    Op Amp Stability

I have edited my original post to be now correct, I didn't know you had retired.

    I am still impressed :)

    Op Amp Stability

hey guys. I want your input. my next bit is going to be on opamp buffers . Now this simple looking ciruit has some issue if you dont get it right. some opamps that are not unity gain opamps can give issues when used as unity gain buffers. Also when used withh 100% feedback with a short from out...

    Write Only Memory (WOM)

I love the typical applications. Post mortem memories. And the fact you get a different spec device if your a slow paying customer. Brilliant. I think having a sense of humour is one of the greatest things of all time.

    Write Only Memory (WOM)

Ok Yeah I know, Just thought I would have a laugh, you know me. And to think you thought I believed it, I must appear real dumb then :). Apparently the guy who wrote this was so fed up of his designs taking so long to go through the system. Knowing full well no one actually read any of it. But...

    Write Only Memory (WOM)

No I think Steve's right, that makes perfect sense. I'll see if our IT department got some old *nix machines hanging around I wonder if there's one inside Adam

    Write Only Memory (WOM)

Hi Guys Came across this data sheet and was wondering if you could help me with how I could have used the device? And also they don't seem to make it anymore, I wonder why? See attached data sheet. Thanks Adam

    Ir led modulation

Shame I hadn't chosen to do my IrDA range tutorial first. Instead of the disaster currently posted under OP-amp stability!

Driving SCRs for coil gun and EMF protection

I don't think you mentioned the supply would be switched off before I replied to your post o_O But thanks for the extra information.

LC tank circuit for measuring inductance with LM319

Yes Steve I think your right, the shorted turn will have a high circulating current (Eddy) whose energy must come from somewhere and this is the coil. Its the same as adding series resistance. Adam

How to read a 5-band resistor that has its bands spread evenly?

If one of the end colours is anything other that Brown, Red, Gold or Silver. Then this is the start end. If both ends are Brown or Red then as Kris said work it out both ways, failing that measure them. Thanks Adam

    LiPo over discharge protection

No check out the website for other parts that might work. Search for the manufacturer on RS, Farnell, Mouser, digikey etc. See if they got anything suitable.

    LiPo over discharge protection

That is correct Steve, you will need a 3 cell battery monitor like the one I have linked to in the post below. Adam

Driving SCRs for coil gun and EMF protection

I can't see how this will work. The voltage on the output (cathode) of the diode will be a function of the current being supplied by the diode so it won't be far from the high voltage supply as long as it can handle the maximum current passing through it. I don't know what diode you are using...
