Help needed for 12V lead-acid switched mode battery charger.

Um I know you have spent a time doing this and it looks pretty good. But this is the why you have to draw the schematic right. Your dc link caps are too far from the mosfets to be honest. You have to make sure you have the correct clearance and creepage for mains. Send me the gerber to...

    How does diode dissipate energy?

I know this might be a simple explanation and Ratch covered all of this, but what about this? When a charged particle as in this case an electron is accelerated in a conductor due to the application of an electric field it will collide with ions (atoms that have lost an electron) in the...

Help needed for 12V lead-acid switched mode battery charger.

Ok looks like it's good to go. Personally I would re-draw the switching part to look something like this. It's a bit easier to follow as is the conventional way to draw this. The turns ratio for the output is spot on only thing to make sure is you get the dot convention correct see drawing...

    buffer circuit before rlc

Sorry if I seem a bit dumb I thought a battery does not not produce a voltage until it has a load. It has potential electrostatic energy otherwise. Which is only released when a load is connected. The electrostatic potential is derived from the voltage coeficients of the material used to make...

I would. That's my opinion and I am intitled to it.

Ohmy Ohmy sorry had to say it. What PWM are you running on. Thanks Adam

    buffer circuit before rlc

I have always used constant current to determine the fact that the current is constant through a circuit and a source of current or current source as something different. A source of current is just that something that can supply current. A battery can supply a current to a resistor connected...

Help needed for 12V lead-acid switched mode battery charger.

Hi Kris I think its quite dangerous using transformers from something else as you know saturation current can be very dangerous at that high current. I would have gone for a poly phase converter. I'll have a look but I am a bit concerned about these salvaged transformers. Cheers Adam

Hi Kris can we just recap what the issues are here, there is a lot going on in this thread and I am struggling to pick through it. Adam

    buffer circuit before rlc

I use constant current term for just that. Other than that I use just current source for somthing that can supply current that is not constant. That's just what I do. Adam Yes that is what I was trying to say. Thanks Adam

    Op Amp Stability

That's interesting. I thought noise was any unwanted voltage at the input or output of a circuit. And this unwanted voltage that appears on the non inverting input get amplified by the gain +1. You don't mention the +1 in your formula. So everyone says noise gain is important for stability but...

    Op Amp Stability

Oh yes I see where I went wrong. I was doing so many different simulations late at night, I must have imported the wrong graph. I will amend this as soon as possible. Adam

    Op Amp Stability

I'll have a look Lvw. You can PM me if you want and we can discuss, when we come to a suitable compromise then l will add this to the thread, saves clogging up this thread with message tennis. Thanks Adam

    buffer circuit before rlc

Just to clarify. I think Lvw means a constant voltage and constant current source. A battery is a voltage and a current source. Adam

    Op Amp Stability

Hey Lvw I am planing on making an excel spread sheet so that peaple can input the op amp parameters and get a phase margin with and without load capacitance and then when they apply say a resistor in series or a cap from output to input how does it change the phase margin. Maybe this is somthing...
