    Optics Help

If I use either the glass or the IR lens both reflect too much. The lens will be one entire lens made of a suitable material. Both lenses still let most of the IR through but the reflection is too great coming back and I can't reduce the TX or RX.

Yes well put Kris, better than my explanation, but I didn't have any 1940 Ohm resistors at the time :)

    Bidirectional Data Line Circuitry

Can you supply a drawing of your circuit? That really help with visualising what you want to do and we can also see what devices you are planning on using and how you have them connected. Adam

    Optics Help

I have an interesting problem I need help with. I have an Opto Reflector that I need to detect the presence of a metal surface 50mm away. Circuit works fine, but if I put certain transparent objects in its path as a cover to protect it from dust it reflects of it. Now you might think this is...

How to allow load function only once

I agree with Bob. Also we are a helpful bunch on here and there is usually someone that knows the answer. But because most of us have jobs and can only checks post in our lunch break there might be a delay in answering. If you post your questions in the evening then you are likely to get a...

    SMPS's with cascoded opto feedback

I think I have been a donkey. It has just dawned on me after going through this an electron and hole at a time I have missed one big boo boo which I know and should twigged on. We all know that in a dc configured transistor switch (NPN) circuit that the emitter current is the total of base...

    RS232 to TTL

Yep that will work. But with any resistor in the signal path you will have an RC time constant between the micro port pin and the signal line. So before you work out the value of the resistors properly you need to know 1) what the capacitance of the micro port is. 2) You then need to find out...

alarm clock with led - with your help

Hi But what if you fall back to sleep at 5.00 and wake at 6.00. Your 5.25 LED will be flashing but it won't be 5.25. :) Adam

DC gain of SMPS transfer function?

This is strange, Someone called Flyback has exactly the same post as you on another forum. http://www.electro-tech-online.com/threads/what-is-the-dc-gain-of-this-flyback-power-stage-transfer-function.139675/ Did you just copy this?

    Cree Led Conversion

I think the only option if you want red is the INDUS STAR module but heed what Bob said you risk damaging the module if it is not driven correctly. And this will be no where near as bright as the white one you have, I think you will be disappointed. Adam

    RS232 to TTL

if you feed 5 volts into a micro input which is running from 3.3V you are likely to damage the internal ESD protection diodes. And don't think about putting a series resistor to limit the current through these diodes as this can cause latch up and you don't want that. Another option would be to...

    Cree Led Conversion

I agree with Bob. You can't just swap packages or colours. Looking at the module they have suggested being the INDUS STAR which is specked at 295 lumens for 700mA. To put this in context in the UK 100W light bulb is about 1300 lumens. The XL and XM white lights are up to 1040 lumens and the MKR...

    SMPS feedback loop injection resistor?

The output versus load is not linear so that means the resistance can't be easily calculated. Have a look on the data sheet and use the graph to help you work it out. It's going to be quite high for this op-amp can only supply 10mA Thanks Adam

    SMPS's with cascoded opto feedback

Steve Re-done the tests for the rise/fall timings and after running them from a battery they are now pretty much the same. So looks like it was the PSU capacitance misleading me. So yes you were right LOL. But on another note, if the circuitry is ever powered from a PSU and say your measuring...
