What Is the difference between capacitance and voltage ?

You beat me to it lol, I was going to say the exact same thing this morning. It is nice to see people being advised with the correct information. Thanks Adam

    Toroidal Transformer Question

Yes steve I agree with that very well put. All I will add to this is that as I first said the earth wire will not protect the user initially from electric shock. If the fuse blows then this should prevent further electric shocks. If this user is touching the earth stud with his finger and then...

    Toroidal Transformer Question

Sorry Dave That made no sense to me. Please clarify. I said the fuse is to protect the wiring, which is what you just said? Adam

    Toroidal Transformer Question

The equipment supplier can't be assured as to what your plugging into as to fuse rating. What if somebody put a bolt in the fusebox they can't trust anyone.

    Toroidal Transformer Question

Example. Human body model 1.5K ohms.Touching for long enough 240V rated13amp fuse equals dead person in th UK. Connect 1.5A cable from 32A fuse in house to multiple heaters drawing 25A. Fuse ok heaters ok wire on fire call fire brigade. Fuse didn't protect wire. Adam

    Toroidal Transformer Question

Nope in the uk I can only put a max of a 10 amp fuse for a cable rated at 10amp over a given distance. This is regardless of the current that the equipment draws but you would be stupid to put a 13A fuse to protect a 1A cable although it would be ok. I don't think people understand cable...

What Is the difference between capacitance and voltage ?

A battery contains chemical energy which is released when a load is placed across the battery, a capacitor contains charge not energy. My concern is you may think charge is energy at this earley stage. This is incorrect. Tell me if you need any help and I can help you. Adam

Volt drop in a reactance / resistance circuit

No dc apart from leakage current of cap because cap blocks dc. I think they are trying to trick you. The power supply is a battery right? Adam

Any analogy as to how decoupling works ?

Blocks AC what do you mean. A capacitor only passes leakage current because it is a very good insulator, nothing else. Tell me what you don't understand giving an example and I will try and help. Remember a capacitor is neither charged or discharged, a capacitor always has the same amount of...

    Projects for Newbies

Also some comp PSUs require a power good signal to work. Spent ages wondering why it wouldn't work. LOL. Been there done that. Adam

    Toroidal Transformer Question

Sorry Harald that is without being rude, rubbish. Electronic equipment have a fuse rating that corrosponds to the size of the cable. So if its true we should only work on equipment that only works with a 1A fuse, do you still think you wouldn't fry working on a heater with a 13A fuse and you...

    Op Amps

I agree Kris, not studied the circuit much but your right with it all I think. The last output stage and I am assuming this is a dc circuit which is why GBP wouldn't be an issue, is probably done this way to reduce output impedance Rout = Ro*Acl/Ao = Ro*1+(Rf/R)/Ao, increase phase margin for...

    Toroidal Transformer Question

From safety point of view. I think you should be using either an isolation transformer or an RCD . I use an isolation transformer if I am working on equipment which have large filter capacitors from live to ground which would normally trip an RCD.rating than your You have to remember that the...

    Program for drawing schematics?

I use either Mentor Graphics PADS, Altium Designer, Protel and Proteus. LT Spice is good for most schematic and it's a simulator, and it's free. Down side doesn't do PCB layout. Thanks Adam

What device will allow 12v but not 9v?

If you disconnected the DRL limiter would you still have main beam? Or is the limiter bypassed when you put your main beam on. If so then could you disconnect the DRL power, connect you main beam wiring to the HID main beam relay and connect another relay to the DRL power to power your fog...
