    USB current detection

Computer fans are brushless, meaning if you spin it no voltage will come out, you need a different fan not from a computer then it will work

    A greener idea...

I'm always thinking of new ideas to save the environment... Why not dump windows and linux servers and replace them which run on ARM processors,.. be something as simple as a $20 arduino kit with ethernet shield for small simple tasks like a whois server or a telnet server or even irc...

    resistor should be renamed lol

ok, so what's the difference between AWG (american wire gauge? off the top of my head) basically, inside the insulated wire you have hair thin strands of copper, it's never solid it's always intertwined... now 100meters of intertwined copper wire which let's say is rated at 5amps good for small...

    resistor should be renamed lol

What's the difference between a 1/2watt resistor and a 5watt resistor, what exactly changes in the resistor? physically.... don't say size :P seriously, what changes to make it withstand the heat?

    resistor should be renamed lol

A resistor, does not resist /oppose the electrons flowing through a resistor though, if it did the name would make sense, if it did do that, all resistors would get hot from even the smallest amounts of current... Think about it this way, if i stick my foot in the door, now i'm 'resisting'...

    resistor should be renamed lol

I think the resistor should be called a restricter, it makes more sense, well to me anyway lol....

    Crystal Oscillator Circuit.

lol, exactly Daven, I've read as much info as i can including colpitt oscillators , which is why I searched high and low for the simplest crystal oscillator circuit i can find, and the simplest one is the one (I believe anyway) i posted.. Now, what i've read is, random noise is generated from...

****ing speakers, how do they work

The simplest method to give you better quality audio, simply replace the speakers with a better set, contrary to belief, the speakers do make a huge difference even if you keep the same low wattage amplifier, you'll get richer, slightly louder audio, i've seen huge noticeable differences in the...

    strange questions

Seriously, someone asked how to activate another circuit from a mobile phone? Audio Out (a ring tone) to a transistor should suffice should it not? lol

huh.... why even bother to post that? lol

    Crystal Oscillator Circuit.

Yeah I can follow the instructions on a circuit and build one no worries, but i'm still a little confused on the theory. the LC tank circuit, simply an inductor (to store a charge) and a capacitor, am I right in assuming, to get the oscillation going, the capacitor and inductor simply throw...

    Cell Phone Charger in Car

all modern cars have what's known as a 'parasitic' drain, all the electronics that have to tick over on idle, eg, car alarm, keeping the clock on the radio running, but i am surprised at the fact you can charge your phone with engine off ? can you?... eg, sit in the car and charge your phone...

    BBC Documentary Error ?

ok, for example, mercury at room temperature has a fairly high resistance, bring it down to absolute zero, and it has no resistance, no energy loss at all, this would allow a CPU to operate and near 100% efficiency, there would be no heat generated like it is on any modern CPU, but if the...

    Cheaper cars?

Not sure where I should really post this question as it's hybrid. Why bother with a steering column on a car at all? remove the steering wheel, clutch, break, making lots of leg room and less hardware, then instead have an array of sensors (double of everything) to watch where your feet move...

    BBC Documentary Error ?

http://www.open.ac.uk/openlearn/whats-on/ou-on-the-bbc-the-story-electricity Really very interesting, but i'm a little confused as to the role of a super conductor in a computer...... what could be done that's different now?... because linear dc-dc converters create heat as a by product when...
