    CTEK MXS 3.8 repair

Thanks whonoes. In the photo have I connected to the correct legs of the 04N60 C3? If I remove that transistor do I need to connect somewhere else or do the probes stay where they are?

    CTEK MXS 3.8 repair

whonoes: Sorry for the delay, took a long time to get the parts. Built your circuit and seeing very low voltage there, approx 0.3V. Will be ordering replacement 04N60C3 and the 2f transistor which you identified. Still waiting for my ESR meter to arrive which hampers me a bit. Anything else I...

Davis Vantage Vue weather station: stop replacing battery

Just to round this off. This is the way I went: Got a design from a friend: Ooops, cant seem to open it, only attach. Basically what it does is take 2 x 18650 batteries and get them to output 3V. Then I also replaced the supercap and added an extra one. Big thanks to Davis agents in South...

    CTEK MXS 3.8 repair

Oooh! Thanks for the floating circuit bit of info. Busy getting SMPS into my old brain. Was getting mighty confused with them until I realised hot and cold side of SMPS have two different ground points lol. Postal strike here seems to have ended, so there's hope. I don't have either of the...

    CTEK MXS 3.8 repair

Thanks WHONOES Should be able to crack it with the sketch. Just a question from my previous post: "BTW, can this circuit be used to check mosfets in SMPS like a PC power supply?" ie is this faily generic?

Just an idea - maybe it already exists?

Relieved you found the wheel before reinventing it

    CTEK MXS 3.8 repair

Thanks a million WHONOES. I do want to build this circuit. BTW, can this circuit be used to check mosfets in SMPS like a PC power supply? My electronics knowledge and experience is still quite limited. As such, I am struggling to get my head around this one. Coupla questions: 1. The one side...

    CTEK MXS 3.8 repair

@WHONOES: When checking voltages on the 04N60C3 heatsinked mosfet should I be on AC or DC? Measurements were done on DC

    CTEK MXS 3.8 repair

Thank you for coming in 73's de Edd. Unfortunately the nice CTEK people, in addition to not publishing schematics/ wiring diagrams, have also removed markings from some components, the 8-1 pin IC being one of them. Correct, I can see no blown or damaged components on the cold side Nothing...

    CTEK MXS 3.8 repair

Yep, 238V here. I get 336V on the big cap but 400V on the drain of the 2F

    CTEK MXS 3.8 repair

Thanks whonoes Mantech at least shows stock of one of them: http://www.mantech.co.za/Stock.aspx?Query=MMBT2907Aand But I will now have to wait till I get to Johannesburg or our postal strike ends to get them. Is the 400V on the drain correct then?

    CTEK MXS 3.8 repair

Thanks whonoes. I am being very careful here, also running the device via a 60W globe. Sadly I don't have a scope so anything else I can check?

    CTEK MXS 3.8 repair

This car battery charger stopped working. Wiring diagram/schematic seem unobtainium. Rectifier diodes check out OK in circuit and I get 336V on the big cap so that all seems OK. But the plot thickens when I measure the 04N60C3 heatsinked mosfet (heatsink has been removed so I can get to it)...

External charger for mobile phone batteries

Just a caveat emptor. I am using one of those TP4056 boards. I find that they take a long time to charge a 18650 battery. Might check the charging current some time to see what it actually puts out
