    Denon AVR-1912 E2/EA

Michael, have you looked at page 22, 23 of the Manual. Maybe the Denon can tell you what's wrong

    Short/open circuit detector in wall

If there is a fault in a cable get an electrician to pull a new cable through. Detecting the fault is just extra cost and doesn't fix it.

    Denon AVR-1912 E2/EA

    Denon AVR-1912 E2/EA

So the Asus PC's contents are viewable on the wall mounted VGA monitor? Then plug a HDMI cable into the back of the Denon and connect the other end to the graphics cards HDMI slot. With a bit of fiddling you should be able to see the Denon's menu on the monitor

    Denon AVR-1912 E2/EA

As You Know says if your lab computer has a hdmi port viewing the menus on the screen is a big help. If you don't have the remote the menus can be navigated via the buttons on the AVR but I find that very clunky

    Denon AVR-1912 E2/EA

Using the test tone probably the easiest way to hear what works

    Denon AVR-1912 E2/EA

Yep, I think I'm just muddying the water. Have you managed to find the signals exiting anywhere on this confusing IC?

    Denon AVR-1912 E2/EA

I see Fig.12 on page 40/196 shows IC 801 bottom left. Calls it "Input select and Volume". Lots of switches inside. Do you not have to change some setting to get the signal through IC801

Making a battery to charge my laptop on the road

Fair enough, but just at least know what you're getting into. Re. using a bunch of 18650's. Crack open a old non functioning laptop battery and have a look at the setup. Circuit board, sensors, and scarily thick connections between batteries. If you think it's going to be easy to improve or even...
