    Video Switcher

To be precise it means Red Green Blue. The three colors used to make other colors in composite video. In other words RGB and Composite Video are synonymous. When labeling panels RGB takes up less real estate. :) Chris

    Video Switcher

FYI: In your case RCA denotes a hardware connector while RGB denotes a video signal standard. Chris

    oscillator help

Besides what dork stated I'd like to add that one does not make their first oscillator 98MHz. One starts their RF journey far more conservatively .. like 1MHz or lower. Chris

Help!!Elenco XK 300 micro controller system

    Grandma & Grandpa's response: "A Ram bit who 128 times"?? :p Chris

It sure is but how does he break that news to his grandparents without appearing ungrateful? Chris

Burglar alarm - Can it be done ?

I don't think an opinion can be given without more information. Bare minimum: photos of the device and or link to the product page. Chris

Eric, I believe you answered the question accurately. Chris

    Delayed buzzer for Motorbike

Uh, yeah ... I didn't see that specified in his text but I see it now in his attachment. I also see that your circuit complies with that. Chris

    Delayed buzzer for Motorbike

Personally I wouldn't want it to count 10 flashes and trigger a continual buzzer. More tolerable for those times when waiting to turn would be a beep every 10 flashes. Chris

conversion of dc voltage to dbm meter as display

If you're going to display voltage as dbm this voltage must be measured across a resistive load. 600Ω is the standard for audio while 50Ω is considered the standard for RF. Chris

Help designing a circuit to flip polarity to LEDS

Bravo to Bob! That post left me with a "DUH!" moment. I think there's a forest-trees analogy there! :) Chris

    Variable capacitor

Hi Errol, There's a fix for that. You can add your first name under your avatar or you can put it in your signature. Personally I like Errol because I liked Errol Flynn; "Captain Blood", "Crimson Pirate", "Robin Hood". Besides we already have a Colin, though I don't think there's any fear of you...

    Variable capacitor

Collen, I don't think that was the website I found a few years ago but it's equally representative of it. What they both have in common is the exquisite workmanship that incorporates electronics with art form. Chris

    Variable capacitor

Steve, why not use a double sided PCB? You'd get more capacitance for the square inch. What, no double sided boards in the junk box? :) Chris

    Variable capacitor

Collen if we had award categories for the most responsive, polite, appreciative new member I'd bet you would win all three categories hands down! I'd also bet that anyone responding to your topics would vote that way too! Impressed! Chris

Single phase to three phase motor

I'm surprised. Usually AC motors => 4HP are commonly 3PH because the start current on a 1PH motor becomes a breaker tripping extreme. Chris

I need to turn on an LED when switch is open

If that cylindrical microswitch is similar to what I've used many times in the past they're designed to work best on their end. They're handy for woodworkers that want to add lighting to cabinetry while hiding the magnet and switch. When I used them the magnets were also round and both the...

Could somebody help explain the workings of this circuit in plain English

What I think is missing from that schematic is simply the reference or symbol to an interconnect cable with connectors marked similar to this. P1(1)---------------P2(1) P1(2)---------------P2(2) P1(3)---------------P2(3) P1(4)---------------P2(4) Chris

    Variable capacitor

Collen, you're probably scratching your head after clicking that link to the animated capacitor multiplier. Don't loose too much sleep over it. They don't find much (if any) application in RF circuitry. They're kinda cool though! :) Chris

    Variable capacitor

Oh yeah, that was the first detector I made as a kid. It looked like this. I drew it from memory for another thread some time ago. Chris
