    I'm thinking of a system with a bit more brains. Instead of simply monitoring for stall current how about a system that monitors both motor current and RPM? This way the circuit can differentiate between a stall and startup current. As with many things these days this is an easy job for a μC...

    I don't see how SmartSockets(R) relates to utilizing the heated water. That's a totally different issue. It's difficult to make suggestions without any idea of the logistics involved here. IE: Where is the DumpLoad in relation to the village? If it's not within the village can it be moved...

    I don't think there's any maybe about it. ;) It will be a dirt simple circuit for a PMDCM (Permanent Magnet DC Motor) but he needs to start by selecting the motor/fan he's going to use and post the motor specs, so we can design around it. Chris

    I googled "Normal DC Fan" but didn't get any hits. My guess is there's no such animal. Perhaps if I try "Abnormal DC Fan" it will point me to a normal one.:D Chris

    In reality we don't even know if any of his 24V circuit is grounded. I used ground because it's easier to follow on a schematic, doesn't clutter it with superfluous and crossing conductors, but above all because spice rebels against ungrounded circuits. Come to think of it..I'm old and very set...
