    Volts and Amps

I'm here because the forum alerts said that Marty quoted me, mentioned my name or ... hell I don't know but I'm here, so let's try this. Way back when Dinosaurs ruled I was teaching basic industrial electronics. To help my students relate to the material world I told them to think of electrical...

    powered computer speaker

Whatever he bought isn't relevant. What Bob described I've done more times than I can remember. It's dirt simple and it's effective. ... KISS! ;) Chris

The fact is ... Bob is sharp as a tack. I don't think he needs help with anything. ;) Chris

    powered computer speaker

Marty, you didn't need me at all. Bob grabbed the bull by the ba .. horns and solved the problem. I was getting confused anyway. Chris

help in finding best micro controller

SMT means "S"urface "M"ount "T"echnology but compared to the weight of your motor I wouldn't be concerned about the weight of driver transistors. It's like comparing a freight locomotive with a Minicooper. I don't think your going to find any uC that's intended to drive that motor directly. Chris

Let's just say that I'm going endeavor to not goof off in posts outside of the lounge. We can play but we have to do it within the designated sandbox...Seriously. .... After all, EP did give us an avenue for mindless stuff like this. ;) Does that horned, old fart, "Hop" know that this thread...

Fortunately for me, that photo was taken by my wife. She bravely volunteers to ride drag on excursions like this. However, the prospect of what you describe brings tears to my eyes! Cheers, Chris

    Light Meter Problem

If you want to stay with an LED type display I would recommend something like the LM3914(Dot-Bar) Display Driver. You may be able to directly control it with the proper LDR. Another option and a whole lot of fun to learn is Picaxe Cheers, Chris

    Light Meter Problem

Ha, I spiced that circuit for the hell of it. I think you were being too kind when stating there are "better" ways. Any way is better than that way. :D Cheers, Chris

    3 phase fan control

I don't think that it's a good idea to ever let the 3PH moniker stick when referring to a BLDC motor. If it ever does we're going to be forever differentiating them from one of these beasts! Note the eye bolt. It ain't there because it looks cool. :p Cheers, Chris

    3 phase fan control

This is just a guess but information in this link may provide clues as to how and why your peers call it a 3 Phase motor. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brushless_DC_electric_motor This image found in that link is probably why it garnered that name. Chris

    3 phase fan control

Perhaps you could define what you think 3 phase means. Chris

    I've Just Been Spanked!

OK, so Dave had to close a thread yesterday, or maybe it was today?? Not sure but it isn't that important when he did it. The only thing important is WHY he did it. He did it because there are certain members, of which I am one, that have been guilty of veering off topic into what should be...

Psychic amplification apparatus - calculating inductance??

Hop, I have a confession. When I'm tasting the grape and "hops" I sometimes laugh myself silly when I look at your photo. Photos are frozen moments in time and this is what I imagine just happened when the shutter caught that moment.... You're next door neighbor with a hot wife just inquired...
