    Flashing 5watt led?

Will you be using A, C, D cells or a stack of 1.25V Nicads; Other? Or do you want to drive them from the little Puck Converter that I posted? Use of a Puck broadens the your battery choices. Chris

    Relaxation oscillator Noob need education

Bob, what I don't get is what was the clue? I was simply chalking this up to yet another "Nubies Secret Circuit Circus" thread, Another O/U brainstorm never occurred to me. I'm getting slooooow. :( Maybe I'm getting too much oxygen while biking? :D Chris

Sorry, I had to go out for a bike ride. I know you closed this thread but here's Tublacain's version of a two cylinder solenoid motor. There are a plethora of them on Youtube and they're all beautiful! That said, solenoid motors/engines are extremely inefficient and are useful as a great...

FYI, these types of motors are a favorite of model maker machinists. You can watch Youtube for hours and never run out of beautiful examples. Even Tublcain made one. None of them reverse polarity the way you're attempting to do it because it's not practical. The timing is accomplished by a set...

    Flashing 5watt led?

Steve, that's one thing he has going for him. If and when he gets these components together I was going to redraw the schematic and give him the brief duty cycle that you suggested earlier. It's shorter than what I originally gave him and that was brief too! ;) Chris

We get quite a few topics like this. When I say "like this" I'm referring to topics where the OP is withholding information. We are not novices here. We know it when we see it. Second guess... reciprocal engine also called a magnetic piston engine or solenoid engine? Chris

There's another issue that you have to deal with and it's not a minor one. The magnetic force required to push the magnet away from the coil (center equilibrium) will have to be much greater than to pull it toward the coil. You won't be able to suspend the magnet on a string either. Do you know...

Your sketch indicates a pendulum of sorts so I'm assuming that you want to see the magnet swing back and forth. 50 - 60Hz is to fast for this. At these frequencies the visual effect will appear as a blurry magnet. Chris

Whether you drive the coil with a sine or square wave the magnet will appear to be motionless at 50 - 60Hz. Chris Edit: On second thought the term "stationary" is more apropos.

I get what you want to do but I still don't know why. Is this an alternate energy project? I ask because we have a special section for that. Chris

    Flashing 5watt led?

The LED looks doable for you but are you sure that heat sink marries with it. The list of star LEDs it fits is listed on that page. I don't see yours. BTW, the two (+) pads are common to each other as are the (-) pads. Chris

    Flashing 5watt led?

I fully understand your ebay issue but I'm burning out. Continue your discussions with the Digikey folks and when you're confident that you can work with the LEDs they suggest post it. I must tell you that after looking at your avatar I feel you're destined for a star LED. Yes, it's an uncanny...

Switchable Cathode Bypass Capacitor for a Tube amp

Good point Duke. This would be the most logical way (SOP) to do this. It applies to BJT's and JFETs as well. Chris
