    USB multiswitch

I was going to add the following but then I had a thought or two. There must be countless damaged USB keyboards out there with nothing more wrong with them than missing keys. They can be had for nothing or next to nothing. Each key contact is an available switch input. Chris

    Simple amplifire

I can honestly say that I have NEVER fried a component in my entire life. The electrons did it! :p  Chris

    Flashing 5watt led?

You have the all the SMT 0Ω resistors removed and you've paralleled 3 LEDs of both stars. That would be the worst and most inefficient configuration. Do not remove the resistors. It's doubtful that you have the experience to remove them without damaging the board anyway. Chris

    Flashing 5watt led?

You can't drive 6 LEDs from a single puck. Did you read the data sheet? Chris

    Flashing 5watt led?

That's correct. The data sheet specs 2.1V (Typ) to 2.5V (Max) @ 350mA but there are three of them in series, which total 6.3V to 7.5V. I think it's a good choice but if you're going to utilize all three LEDs you're going to have to make some power supply decisions. I didn't like the 4 'D'...

Automatic bicycle hub gear changer using servo

Not your fault. I would imagine that they're not all that common. Besides, I've read many cycling posts where people are calling sprockets gears. Chris

Automatic bicycle hub gear changer using servo

Are you saying that the hub has a single sprocket and the shifting is is accomplished with gears internal of the hub? Chris

    Door Latch opener switch

So this is college 2013? Here's a tip for you. If and when you graduate firms aren't going to take you aboard based on your degree alone. They will sit your butt down in an empty conference room while you wait for an engineer; typically the chief engineer. When he arrives he will pick your brain...

    Door Latch opener switch

The fact of the matter is the transmitter and receiver aren't an issue here There are numerous IR kits available that will be cheaper than building it by procuring the components individually ... and they come with the PCB! Chris

    Flashing 5watt led?

As you can see by these quotes I second guessed myself and dismissed replacing the MOSFET with a 2N2222 almost immediately. Did you buy the IRLD014PbF MOSFET? Also, I thought you canceled the LEDs order until we found one you could work with. I told you that the LED you chose was going to be...

It sounds like a good alternative for him. Thanks for the tip. Chris

    Flashing 5watt led?

Uh..... that would be relevant if I hadn't designed the circuit. Chris

    resistor question on 'aircasting' project

You bring up a good point. What is the most common SMT wattage? If I were a betting man I'd put odds on something near 1/8W but I'm guessing. Chris

    resistor question on 'aircasting' project

There was a time when 1/2 Watt resistors were the most common wattage found in most circuits. Today 1/4 Watt are the most common and easiest to source. Chris

Automatic bicycle hub gear changer using servo

For what it's worth there's a Trek Cruiser that has a three or four speed, not sure which, auto transmission built into the rear hub. The chain drives a single rear sprocket. I don't think there's any electrics associated with it. Chris

Automatic bicycle hub gear changer using servo

I don't like the concept of an AT on a bike either. It's very hard on the chain and shifter when you're torquing the peddles hard while shifting. I always ease off the peddle force a bit before I shift. How are you going to do this with an auto shifter? Chris

    Flashing 5watt led?

    Flashing 5watt led?

Hi Bob and thanks for your input. I think you're describing the kind of LED that one of our member's (JPU) used in his equine dental headset. I must confess that I've not kept current on many of the available LEDs. Got a link or part number? Thanks, Chris

    Flashing 5watt led?

I was reading through the LED data sheet and it would appear that heat sinking is facilitated by a solder pad that is connected to the Anode of the LED. This is a surface mount LED as I believe all the high power models are. I've never worked with one because I've never had any need to. Flowing...
